Such a great place, had to extend my stay here. Breakfast is solid and cleaning is regular. Nicely situated on the hill so the view is incredible but also not far from town, walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyable

Lovely facility, very relaxing. The lady overseeing the place, Marjorie, is very kind and responsible. I enjoyed my daily breakfast. The rooms need a little TLC and a bit more insect control throughout the property. Be careful with the hill up to the property, it's very steep.

The property has a very nice view of the bay, which makes it worth the stay. The pool and patio area is really nice, clean and enjoyable. It's a short walk from the center of the town but the last part is uphill. The only issue we had is that the room (pool view) we had is right next to the kitchen and there were a lot of ants, and the garbage is next to the room door. The cabin rooms seemed much better options.

Really sad to be giving this rating as this property had everything to be a 5-star stay, with an amazing view to the town/beach and a nice little pool area etc, but unfortunately my stay was a nightmare! Do not book the room by the pool/with view to the town/beach, this room is right next to the kitchen! It is extremely noisy with staff talking, cooking, people having breakfast etc. honestly it really is that bad! The door to enter the room is inside the kitchen/common area so there’s constant noise of people talking/doing stuff. Also, at the back is the laundry space so you hear the washing machine constantly working & staff are always hanging clothes etc so they can see you through the window, no privacy at all! The “balcony” area advertised is not private! There are tables for the guests to eat outdoor - I got woken up at 7am with the noise of a couple eating breakfast and talking loud right in front of my window. Also another guest sitting in the recliner chair on that space. Also be aware that there is only one lady “in charge” (she’s the cleaner, cook, receptionist, etc) and she only speaks spanish which would be a huge language barrier for a lot of people. Breakfast is super small/simple and location is quite a walk from the beachfront area (super inclined as well so it’s a bit of an effort to get to the top by foot). Not super clean either (had staines in my sheets and towel). Don’t know about the rest of the rooms but I definitely DON’T recommend the one by the pool!

The room I booked was beautiful but was supposed to have air conditioning. Upon arrival he told us the room up top was better but more expensive we said no. Then when we were led to our room and found out it didn’t have AC he told us that was more expensive too. Even though I clearly paid for a booking that said AC under the amenities. They then switched us to the “better room” which has AC but is ugly and the bathroom is incredibly tiny. Beautiful place in pictures but horrible experience

Terrible experience unfortunately. This hotel is advertised as a 3 star hotel when it is clearly a 2 start hotel by the standards of the Nicaraguan Technical Standard for Hotel Categorization by Stars, there is no restaurant, no closed bathroom in our room, no hot water, cleanliness is very limited (many bugs and especially ants in our room because of all the holes around windows and doors), no spa and gym facilities on site (which are falsely mentioned in the description) and many more standard necessities. There is clearly no 24 hour reception desk. There is no daily housekeeping service, we left this morning at 10am and came back at 6pm and our bed was not made and the dirty toilet paper was still in our garbage, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE for a 3 star hotel. You cannot connect 2 single beds and call it a king size bed. As soon as we arrived and throughout our stay here, there has been a disgusting stench of chemical cleaner, probably coming from a nearby septic tank. The hotel description mentions beach towels, there are none. There are several mentions of a mini-bar, including on the flyer with the wifi password, there is no mini-bar ANYWHERE. Once we arrived, we were shown to several rooms which were not at all the one that we booked and had no AC.

Lots of stairs to walk down the cabin, needs lighting. It was super dark and very unsafe for us at night. Super deep. There were lot of ants and bugs walking around the place. Please be aware of security cameras looking at you, no privacy. With was one of the reasons that I booked this one. Breakfast was late and very simple. No parking lot. Other than that is ok.

Worse place!!! STAY AND DO NOT BOOK!! We got to this place in the middle of a hot day, our taxi took us all the way to the top of the hill, if you did not know this is not in walking distance from the beach. Very steep. But that is not the issue. We were greated by a lady who did not speak a single word in English. No problem, I pulled my translator. She was requesting full payment, that is AFTER we have already paid for our first day through Expedia. She insisted we pay in full although I showed her receipt from Expedia where we were clearly charged for the first day. Did not matter how many times we tried telling her, showing her, we eventually were forced to leave the property (mind you this is basically somebody's house with a tiny pool, almost like a hostel). So we got thrown in the heat, out in the street, she called us a cab. Our driver took us to Hotel Alcazar a nicer and more expensive hotel on the beach strip. Reported this to Expedia, they could care less. Supposedly they tried to contact the place, did not get ahold of anyone within 5 days and sent us an email stating that full charges apply! And yes, we got charger close to $400 and never stayed there. We are now disputing charges with VISA, we will see how this goes. Horrible place, horrible people, beautiful country though, just find a different place and know that Expedia is not Airbnb, crooks hiding behind a corporation. Last time my family will book through Expedia.

My partner and I decided to book this hotel as it seemed like it would be a nicer place to rest than a hostel and to enjoy the pool with great views. For positives, the staff was really nice and present if there was any questions we had. But I really am writing this review because the listing is not accurate to what the place provides. For starters, we booked the bungalow with the balcony and when we arrived, there was another couple who was given our bungalow and we "had the option" between two other side cabins. This was disappointing from the start because we booked the specific cabin we booked for a reason. The listing says there is a stocked mini bar we can help ourselves too, and there was nothing of the sort. The fridge in the kitchen did not have anything either. Keep in mind this "hotel" is a bit of a ways out of town up a steep hill, far from any other places that offer food or drinks. The listing also says "Yoga classes are offered at the gym;" ? There is no "gym" or yoga, just a mat provided for a self guided practice. The wifi would barely stay connected for more than 5 minutes at the cabin. There are dogs in the neighborhood that bark all throughout the night (not the properties fault but it should be noted). This property is nothing like a "hotel" and more like a hostel airbnb that provides the bare minimum for the rooms and experience. With so many options in SJDS, I highly suggest choosing a different place to stay.

A nôtre arrivée la chambre semblait propre mais avec une forte odeur à désinfectant, il a fallu que j'ouvre les portes et la fenêtre de la toilette pendant quelques heures pour que l'odeur se dissipe un peu, cependant le ménage n'a pas été fait pendant nôtre séjour de 3 nuits! Mêmes servillettes et mêmes draps les 3 jours et la corbeille à papiers dans la toilette était pleine à craquer car personne venait pour nettoyer la.chambre. Le personnel etait aimable et les déjeuners étaient bons.

The general property was nice but there were many issues in the room. We arrived to a very strong cleaning agent/ chemical smell in the room. Upon checking the bed I found cob webs and fresh webs attached from the mattress to the wall and nightstand. Clearly the sheets and room haven’t been cleaned in some time. Bed sheets and pillow cases were stained. The walls were crawling with large rent ants and other large bugs. After checking out the sliding door it made sense as there was a very large gap between the doors (improper placing of the lock/ no weather stripping) allowing everything in. Found a giant leg of a bug (cockroach/ grass hopping looking thing in the morning). Only cold water showers (the least of my worries in a place like this). The only plus to this place was waking up to seeing monkeys, and the cook in the morning. She advised me that the manager did not want to refund me the second night as I could not stay in it due primarily to the smell. She walked in to take a look and I showed her all of which she was disgusted by and noticed her throat immediately bothered by the chemical smell. Terrible service from management to not contact me after going back and forth with Expedia and the cook during my vacation. Would not recommend.

Pésima experiencia. No lo recomiendo. El lugar estaba sucio desde el momento en que llegamos. Los baños tenían un olor muy desagradable y evidente falta de limpieza. Además, la ventana del baño no tenía cortinas, lo cual resultó muy incómodo ya que el personal pasaba justo por esa área, comprometiendo completamente la privacidad. Definitivamente no volvería ni lo recomendaría.
