About this property

La Nuit D'Etang's 17th-Century Bakery & Private Spa

  • Privatize this authentic seventeenth-century bakehouse and its poetic garden that looks like a small cloister, carefully restored to offer you the comfort of today, while remaining faithful to its soul, its cachet and its history.

Almost 350 years that it has stood the test of time, and more than a century of history in the company of our family. We have chosen to restore it, not to leave it frozen in the past but to make you live it in the present.PGJyPg
How about helping to write its history?PGJyPg
Before booking, we invite you to take a few moments to consult the very end of the presentation. You will discover, in a few words, the world of La Nuit d'Étang, but also some surprises around several dates likely to make your stay even more memorable.

In the meantime, make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and listen to the silence.
It is sometimes so deep that it seems to carry the echo of another time.

In the way you think you hear the sea when you bring a shell close to your ear, the old stones seem to have kept the memory of those who animated them.

The steps of the apprentice, sack of grain on his shoulder, cracking in turn the steps of the miller's staircase, then the old floor of the wheat room.
The patient gestures of the farmer in the dairy, where the milk gradually took the shape of butter, cream and cheese.
Next door, in the bakehouse, the talmelier pushes aside the burning embers before putting the bread in the oven.
A few voices... a few laughs... and then they leave...

La Nuit d'Étang now houses a bedroom with a Belle Époque bathtub, set up in the old wheat room, a kitchen installed in the old dairy and a living room taking place in the original bakehouse.

Outside, in the middle of flower beds and a few steps from the fountain and its dreamy nymph, a natural pergola dressed with climbing plants houses the garden furniture, while a bioclimatic pergola and remains whose origin remains unknown house a private jacuzzi.

A real crossroads located at the gates of Brittany, La Nuit d'Étang is only 150 to 200 km from the main cities of the Great West and 2 hours from Paris. Easily accessible, you can get there by the RN12, the A28, the A88 or the Véloscénie but also by train via the Paris/Granville route with a stop in Surdon from where you can be offered transport with our local partner taxi.

You will enjoy all the places, without any sharing and out of sight: the bakery, its garden, its jacuzzi, its equipment, the access road and a private, independent parking lot under video surveillance are entirely reserved for you.

On the first floor, you will find a living room with connected TV (Netflix, Canal+, Prime Video, French and international radio channels), a Bluetooth sound bar, a sofa bed, a pellet stove (extra charge), a fully equipped kitchen and a toilet.

Upstairs is a bedroom with a queen-size bed, a television, a Belle Époque bath, a washbasin on furniture, a bathroom with shower and washbasin and a separate toilet.

Outside, you have garden furniture, a private jacuzzi, two sunbeds, a relaxation area with petanque court, a barbecue and a plancha.

PGJyPgOptional and with prior reservation, we also offer the rental of electric and muscle bikes to discover the Véloscénie and the landscapes of the Normandy-Maine Regional Natural Park, as well as breakfasts, aperitif and dinner boards, pinsas, etc. a selection of drinks and a charging station for an electric vehicle.

Finally, because La Nuit d'Étang is above all a place for sharing and meeting, we would like to personally welcome each of our travelers. If circumstances require it, a remote reception can be organized but in a very exceptional way and by means of a videoconference and a secure key box.

.. If you are ready to make the journey to La Nuit d'Étang, you might as well do so with the certainty of being able to be fully yourself. It is in this spirit that we welcome everyone with the same kindness, respect and discretion.

La Nuit d'Etang rates more than 5 stars because we think it is exceptional! It is very comfortable, very well appointed, intensively and amusingly decorated both inside and outside, very quiet in a pleasant location and a welcome delight to return to at the end of every day. For those who like cycling, the surrounding countryside is excellent with gently rolling hills and attractive landscapes. There are endless incredibly quiet lanes, plus the voie verte which whisks you fairly effortlessly into Alencon. We discovered some good walking, never used our car and had a first class week despite occasional late summer rain. Good luck to Nicolas and Amelie with La Nuit d'Etang!
