Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful! Special mention to Gabriel at check-in who was just a star and Ivan in the rooftop restaurant! The view of the beach from my room was stunning! Decor pillows on bed were very old and gold frame of bedhead was stained/rusted. Mirrors (both eall and lighted small beauty mirror) were dusty/not properly cleaned. Also the light on the beauty mirror was not working.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, especially during Carnival. It made getting around very convenient and added so much to the overall experience. What truly makes this place stand out, however, is the staff. Every interaction I had was positive. The woman at the front desk was incredibly helpful and kind she seamlessly assisted me in switching rooms and even helped me secure a last-minute ticket to the Sambadrome, which I truly appreciated. Another front desk staff member (The Black Man) went out of his way to help me find transportation to the Sambadrome when it was extremely difficult to get a taxi and multiple Uber requests were unsuccessful. When it was time to leave, a staff member (A Young Black Man) kindly carried my bags out to the taxi on my way to the airport. The team’s professionalism and willingness to help are what make this hotel deserving of five stars in terms of service. I did pay a significantly increased rate about double the usual price due to Carnival, as the hotel is advertised as five-star. Unfortunately, the property itself did not meet five-star standards. My initial room, which I understand may have been assigned due to high occupancy, was not very clean and had issues with mosquitoes and dead roaches. It felt like a room that isn’t used often. After switching, my new room was an improvement, but still did not quite meet five-star expectations. The facilities fell short of a five-star experience, the staff and location would bring me back.

The staff was kind, but there were not a lot of staff around. No one to help with bags, etc. the room was very small, no extra amenities like robes, coffee, water, etc. and felt very bare bones. It was also dirty on the floor and the cabinets, and the wood finishes were very worn. Overall, it was not worth the money spent on it. The only redeeming feature was the views from the rooftop, and the food. The pool was very small and basic, and there was no towel service.

The staff was exceptional throughout my trip, with everyone providing excellent service. Although the room was somewhat cramped for the price, particularly the small bathroom which made showering challenging, the outstanding service and staff made our 7th anniversary celebration truly special, complemented by a satisfying hot breakfast.

We had a great stay! The view is amazing. The front desk staff was excellent and provided recommendations of where to eat. We stayed in the suite and it was wonderful. Great food at breakfast and at the bar. Rio is now one of our favorite destinations. Diego at the roof top bar is the best!! Go Bills!!

Clean room, specious, incredible view of Sugar Loaf and the Bay. Roof Top Bar staff Ivan, Diego and Junior were an absolute delight! Breakfast was delicious, splendid and plenty to choose from. Vanessa was a gracious host and all the staff were friendly and attentive. The view from the Roof Top was my favorite area with a spectacular view.

The room we got on arrival was aged and had a clogged drain in the shower. View was nice, but the furniture had issues (many visible impacts from use, water damage at the floor level). Since the shower drain was clogged, the notel staff offered to move us to another room (we were staying 7 days). They offered one room on the 6th floor with partial view only, and another option on the first floor. Because the hotel is right on top of a large road ramp with a homeless person that chooses to holler at cars every couple minutes, we thought we would be too close to the source of the noise and declined the first floor options. We later realized first floor rooms at a perfect view on the fountain where more homeless people bath when the weather is hot, and we felt comforted to have avoided this view. The second room also had issues with water damage, but less visible impacts on furniture. The shower drain was not clogged, but the floor of the shower was inclined in the wrong direction, away from the drain, resulting in water not draining fully after any shower. The second room also had issues with the air conditioner, which was untrollable, no matter the temperature we selected on the remote. The room always ended up so cold we had to turn off the AC in order not to freeze (a problem during the night in Rio when the weather outside is quite hot). Overall, this five star hotel does not meet the standards I have experienced when visiting five star accomodations across US,Asia&Eur.

Una experiencia excelente. El hotel es impecable en todos los aspectos: las áreas comunes, la habitación muy linda y cuidada al detalle, y una limpieza perfecta. El personal es súper atento, desde recepción hasta el servicio y la gente del rooftop, siempre con buena predisposición y trato cálido. El desayuno es increíble, muy completo y de muy buena calidad, ideal para arrancar el día en Río. La ubicación es muy buena, especialmente si tu idea es salir un poco de lo tradicional de Copacabana o Ipanema: Botafogo es más auténtico, tranquilo y bien conectado. Sin dudas, un hotel que combina diseño, confort y excelente atención. Volvería sin dudar.

This hotel is a complete scam. We booked and paid back in June for a very specific room with a view, exactly as shown in the photos. When we arrived, they gave us a completely different room: on the lower level, facing the street, with zero privacy — people can see directly inside. When we showed the receptionist the room type we had actually booked, she arrogantly told us that “the room is equivalent to what you booked on ebookers.” This is not true: ebookers confirmed that the hotel told them the photos were subjective and needed to be updated. The hotel is clearly lying to cover itself. Worst of all, they offered absolutely NO solution — no alternative, no compensation, not even an apology. The rooms look nothing like the photos, and they insist that “all rooms are the same,” even though we paid much more for a better room with a proper view. The staff is rude, unprofessional, and refuses to take any responsibility. As for the surroundings: the neighborhood feels unsafe, with many homeless people around and even a camp right in front of the entrance. There is a guard downstairs, but the whole area still feels uncomfortable and far from what you expect in Rio. And the most shocking part: this is not our first hotel in Rio — we’ve stayed in several — and this was supposed to be our first 5-star hotel here… yet it turned out to be the worst of them all. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Fantastic view from the room of Sugarloaf Mountain and Botafogo beach. Excellent facilities in the hotel and helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended for a stay in Rio if you want to try a different area to Copacabana or Ipanema.
