The Reykjavik Edition is a lovely hotel and the location is very good. Staff were very attentive. We only had breakfast at the hotel and it was a very good selection of food on offer with gorgeous views overlooking the harbor. At peak times, they did run out of glasses and it took a while before they were replaced so people ended up using cups for their juice.
We were a family of 3 staying in a double queen room. There is not enough storage in the room for 3 people and we travelled pretty light.
I know the hotel is going for a dark/atmospheric look which I like, but they took it to far. We had every single light on in our room and it was still quite dark unless we opened the blinds.
Heated flooring in the bathroom was a nice touch. Apart from the dark room, we would definitley stay here again.
Excellent Attention and Service! Best location, and the spa was an added bonus! Tides Restaurant, The Rooftop, and The Tides Cafe were all divine! We can’t wait to come back.

A Perfect Wedding & Honeymoon Stay at The Reykjavík EDITION
Our stay at The Reykjavík EDITION was nothing short of extraordinary.
My wife Zoe and I were in Reykjavík for our vacation, wedding, and honeymoon, and the hotel made every moment feel unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to celebrate with us and make us feel genuinely cared for.
We were welcomed with thoughtful surprises—free champagne, beautiful balloons, and so many personal touches that made our room feel like a celebration in itself.
Every interaction with staff felt warm, sincere, and attentive. They didn’t just acknowledge our special occasion; they embraced it with us.
The atmosphere of the hotel is stunning: modern, calming, and luxurious without ever feeling pretentious.
Our room was immaculate and comfortable, with views and details that made it hard to leave. The amenities, dining, and overall vibe created the perfect backdrop for our wedding week.
What truly set this stay apart was the feeling of being supported and celebrated. The team made us feel seen, valued, and genuinely loved during one of the most important moments of our lives.
We couldn’t have chosen a better place to begin our marriage
Location - walking distance to central area
Staff - extremely welcoming, helpful and wonderful tot all to
Room - modern and clean
Spa - much needed after a day in the cold
Bar - nice touch with seating around the fireplace
Beautiful hotel- really top quality staff from all over the globe- very accommodating- resort fee was a hidden charge that would make me rethink this hotel in future- that and the valet parking only option. 4 days of both of these add up.
Todo el servicio, personal, atención hicieron de este viaje algo inolvidable.
En especial un agradecimiento enorme a Susan de TIDES, muchas gracias por el detalle y atención.
Ampliamente recomendado para la estancia en Reykjavík.
Best hotel in Reykjavik! Great location and amazing atmosphere. The Happy Hour is pretty great as well! Staff was amazing at check in. It was a birthday trip and the woman at the reception had delivered an incredible mouse cake to my room for my wife and I to celebrate. Top notch service. Thank you!
Everything was amazing from the doorman to the dining room. The rooms are a perfect reflection of Icelandic decor. The perfect place to stay!

This really did not look, feel, or operate like a 5 star hotel. Rooms are not soundproofed and have wood floors so light sleepers beware. The design of the rooms was advertised as a selling point but the room was quite bare and felt like any other Marriott. In the bathroom, the shower is not separated at all from the rest of the bathroom (no glass, wall, or curtain), so water gets everywhere (and we were careful to try to keep the floor dry). It's literally a shower head right next to the toilet -- such an ill-conceived, poorly-arranged setup. The restaurant had a somewhat limited menu and the staff, though pleasant, were awfully forgetful. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and one of the dishes I ordered never arrived. You have to pay to access the spa, which is a strange policy that I've never encountered at another hotel (and I've traveled to 25+ countries). The staff were the highlight of the stay as they were all quite friendly, but the property and amenities are overrated and woefully overpriced. You can get the same service and much nicer rooms at the hilton for literally half the price. Also, the entrance to the hotel is at the back of the building and many tours aren't able to pick you up there, so you'll have to walk to a bus stop for many pickups.
