We stayed here with our two young children and really enjoyed our stay! Nice quiet area with stunning views and some woolie friends The house itself was clean and well presented. Loved the central heating, comfy bedding and continental breakfast. The only thing that wasnt ideal was the lack of phone reception
Accomodation was perfect for our short stay. I loved that there was a sauna and full continental breakfast available. Very good communication with our host.
Had a great second stay here. Relaxing and easy. Easy check-in, nice having later than average check-out time. Plenty of breakfast food. We loved the homemade yoghurt. We'll definitely be back when needing a stopover on the way to somewhere.
We spent two nights at this comfortable house, and used it as our base for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The host, Michael, made everything at his hands to make us feel at home, and provided great advice on weather and the crossing. We are really happy to have staid at his house.
Neat and tidy little apartment in a very quiet neighbourhood close to Ohakune. Well and tastefully furnished. We had a wonderful stay and Peter and Yvonne are great hosts. Great to return each day to the quiet and peaceful/restful environment. They were very prompt in responding to our queries and very considerate to our situation when there was a scheduled power maintenance outage.
Great place to rest and recharge. Central heating really makes the place toasty and cozy. Comfortable clean sheets and beds.Lovely yard makes for a great place for the kids to run. View of Mt. Ruapehu just the cherry on top!
Perfectly suited for a fairly short stay. Limited kutcgen facilities so you have to be organised in the eating dept. Quick drive to town and spectacular views.Recommended.
A very enjoyable stay. This is a fantastic place, where every corner has been utilized. The kitchen is cozy and functional for basics such as making a cuppa or sandwiches etc. There is a microwave and fridge in the next room if needed. Lovely little touches, biccies and lollies left for our arrival and a lovely continental breakfast. Michael even knocked on the door to see if our children would like to help feed their goat. The surroundings are stunning and very relaxing to sit on the deck and have a cuppa whilst soaking up the atmosphere. It was super clean, tastefully decorated with lovely quality linen, comfy beds etc. Extra table and chairs and seatee in the bunk room, which our kids loved. They have put in a lot of effort thinking of everything that might be needed, e.g. bug guards at windows, games and books etc. Compact but really good for our small family of 4. In fact we have booked to stay on our return journey. We might try out the sauna then.
We basically just stopped here for an overnight but can confirm everything in the other reviews - the breakfast spread is incredible, the details are all very thoughtful, and it was sort of hilarious how many options we had for sleeping with just the two of us. Hosts are obviously very giving and welcoming, and we regret not having had more time to just post up in the area for a few days and enjoy these digs. Two small things I didn't see in other reviews:- The welcome book suggests that internet usage is limited to 1 hr/day. I don't know if that's true, but FYI if that's important to you. This is a pretty remote area, so it's understandable. Also, what are you doing online when you could be looking at sheep?- The welcome book also states that the property was formerly a dental clinic, which explains some kinda weird layout stuff that isn't evident in the photos. I.e., everything is lined up along one long hallway. This is distinctively awesome, however, and it's another reason you should come check out this absolute gem.
It was a bit of a weird arrangement but overall a good place to stay. My main gripe would be that the bed was way too bouncy which made sleep difficult. Supplying some breakfast food and biscuits was a nice touch.
