Welcome to The Sun Lodge –

Our 3,000-acre community is private, quiet, and perfect spot for a restful vacation.

Escape to the breathtaking beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains at The Sun Lodge, a secluded three-story lodge nestled within a gated community. Just 25 minutes from Boone and Wilkesboro, and only 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this serene getaway is surrounded by hiking trails and natural beauty.

Designed with an open floor plan, The Sun Lodge offers a cozy yet spacious atmosphere:
Loft Retreat: Queen bed, half bath, private deck with stunning views, cozy sofa, and a reading chair.

Main Level: Well-stocked kitchen with premium Pampered Chef appliances, a fireplace, a game table, and a full bath.

Downstairs Bear’s Lair: King-size bed, wrap-around sofa, stereo television, an additional queen bedroom, full bath with jacuzzi jet bathtub, washer and dryer, and a walk-out basement leading to double hammocks.

Enjoy modern conveniences like super-fast Wi-Fi, perfect for remote work, along with peaceful wildlife-watching from our birdfeeders and hummingbird feeders. A gas grill on the deck makes for the perfect evening cookout.


IMPORTANT NOTES:
****Our tight spiral staircases may not be suitable for small children or elderly guests.

****If booking for five or more travelers, we just want to make sure you noticed that the house has an open floor plan with limited privacy. Both the loft and the basement king bedroom are open rooms.

This cabin is a very comfortable place to relax and has all of the necessities. The kitchen is well stocked with quality items, and the entire cabin was very clean and organized. The view of the distant mountain range is beautiful at all times of the day, and gives the impression that you are at 4,000 feet, although it is less that 2,000 feet, which is a nice feature if you do not want to drive up mountain roads a lot and you prefer a little warmer climate than the high altitudes. The owners were great and communicated promptly with any questions or concerns. The only issue was getting into the cabin on the first day and that was solely my fault, but the owner helped me out very quickly. The cabin was very peaceful and quiet, both inside and outside, which is a very nice feature since most guests will want to spend a fair amount of time on the deck without being too close to other properties. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great Accommodations!!

We have stayed in numerous cabins over the years and this one was the most well stocked and one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. We did have a problem with one of the toilets, but Greg was in it and took care of it for us. It was a great location between Wilkesboro and Boone. Beautiful deck overlooking the mountains. We would stay here again without question.

As always, the Sun Lodge is just the perfect place for relaxation. Do yourself a favor, wake up before sunrise, make a cup of coffee, and enjoy the beauty of sunrise over the mountains.

Amazing!

Cabin was wonderful. Views were amazing. Well stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the hiking trails around the pond and the neighborhood waterfall. No complaints at all! Would definitely go back! If I could give 10 stars I would!

Peaceful and Calming

This was our third trip to this beautiful home and spectacular view. This mountain community feels like home away from home. Cozy and nicely decorated with all kitchen and bathroom amenities. Clean and welcoming. Love the deck. Even though we had mainly rain this past Monday-Wednesday but still enjoyed listening to the silence of the night with exception to the crickets. I hope this area dodged the flooding.

Pleasant stay

We really liked the property. It rained the whole time we were there. We had some good views despite the weather. Lodge was well supplied and very thoughtfully planned. Made it so easy to prepare meals in the kitchen.

Escape to the best view!

Our second time was a delight and really enjoyed the beautiful view. Though there was quite a bit of cloud control. The cabin was very nice and all the little extras were appreciated. I want to make you aware that the downstairs hair dryer might need replaced. When I turned it on for just a few seconds it immediately started smelling like it had been burnt. Appreciated all the extras. We enjoyed looking at all then deer down the mountain to the main road. Thanks for sharing a small piece of your paradise. Wendy, Jason, Jacob, & Kayla.

Misleading house description

We don't believe the description of the house was very clear. Especially for older folks, it should be stated that there is no bedroom on the main floor. Of the three sleeping areas, only one has a door on the room. The only staircases (2) to the loft and lower level sleeping areas are spiral. It is difficult to carry luggage up and down such stairs and easy to slip and fall on them. There is no TV on the main floor and only two comfortable chairs to sit in on the main floor. But the house is very clean and well-stocked with a great view, wonderful deck, and easy to drive to.

Beautiful Stay In The Mountains

Wonderful cabin with a view to die for. We could have spent the whole weekend sitting on the deck but we would have missed the beautiful interior with any amenity you could ask for, comfortable bed and fully stocked kitchen. Thank you to the owners for making their home available for others to enjoy. Hopefully, we can visit again.

Gorgeous home

Had an amazing time at this cabin above the clouds! The hosts provided everything we needed. The only notes I have is that although listed in the amenities that they have a hot tub, it is actually a bathtub with jacuzzis. If you filter your searches for mountain houses with hot tubs like I did, just be mindful that this one does not have one. Lastly, because it is a mountain home, there were quite a bit of stink bugs that found their way in. They like the warmth so they really loved the up stairs loft. Our friends who took the loft ended up sleeping on the bottom floor with us the last night due to how many there were on the top floor. Had the best weekend with my girls at this house! The fireplace was extra cozy!

Amazing views

Pros - beautiful views - easy drive to get to - very nice cabin and owners added lots of lovely little touches. - felt very homey and relaxing - loved the sitting areas on the porch and lower level Cons - mold in the all the jets in the whirlpool bathtub so we couldn't use it - the kitchen was missing baking dishes liie 9×13 pans to cook with. Luckily we brought some. - spices and condiments need to be restocked . Many were outdated - crockpot needs to be replaced. Cooked unevenly -some supplies were not stocked . Over all we had a very nice stay and would recommend to others

Peace and Beauty

This is perhaps the most peaceful place in the world. The location is incredible. Watching the sunrise over the mountains feels like living inside of a painting. This has quickly become my family's favorite place to visit -- and if you book a trip here, it likely will be yours too.

The good: Beautiful views and cabin. Comfortable beds, good location to Boone and Wilkesboro The bad: only one TV downstairs in the main bedroom, spiral stairs upstairs and downstairs.

View as good as any in Appalachia

My father and I stayed in this house a few days to get out of the coastal heat during August and we didn't do much. Just got a couple meals in Boone and stayed at the house because the view is that spectacular. The house is nice but we didn't spend much time in it. Even in August, the outdoor area was comfortable, with a very nice retractable awning for when the sun is overhead. We'll almost certainly be back!

Fabulous Serene setting

We had a fabulous, quiet stay at this beautiful cabin. We enjoyed most of our days and evenings on the deck under the retractable sun awning and fire pit. We enjoyed the deer, squirrels, birds and hummingbirds. The cabin itself provided all the amenities needed including fast internet and an Alexa for music.

Even better than expected

Wow, the cabin and view are AMAZING! Everything exceeded our expectations. Communication with the property manager was great. The cabin was clean and well-stocked! And the view from the deck was breathtaking. We spend all of our early mornings and evenings in the outside space.

Very nice

Views were beautiful. Poker table and set came in handy with the rain. Really loved all of the pampered chef kitchen utensils and that this rental has a decent selection of knives and utesnils and a knife sharpener. Hosts thought of everything from extra shampoo and conditioner to all of the decor from places they traveled and marshmallow roasting sticks. Make sure you roast marshmallows out on the deck!

Amazing house with spectacular view!
