What if humans were the ones behind the bars? Hidden in the rainforest of Cabo Matapalo, Casa Aviari is an extraordinary open-air home designed like a cage for humans, surrounded by the wildlife that calls this jungle home. A living tree grows through the house, alongside an indoor waterfall, blending architecture with nature. Experience the rainforest from a different perspective in this one-of-a-kind retreat.
The Space:
Casa Aviari is unlike a traditional vacation home. Inspired by the idea of a cage for humans, its distinctive design invites you to see the relationship between people and wildlife from a completely different perspective. Here, humans occupy the enclosure while monkeys, birds, and other rainforest creatures move freely through their natural surroundings.
At the heart of the house, a tree grows through the structure, accompanied by a waterfall that brings the sights and sounds of the rainforest into the living space. Natural materials, open-air architecture, and surrounding greenery make the boundary between indoors and outdoors feel almost nonexistent.
The house accommodates up to 6 guests and features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and inviting spaces to gather and relax. Enjoy meals together, unwind in a hammock, or take in the jungle views from the private balcony.
Casa Aviari is ideal for travelers looking for something beyond an ordinary stay: an immersive experience where architecture, wildlife, and nature become part of the adventure.
Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive access to Casa Aviari, including both bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living areas, and private outdoor spaces. Guests can also enjoy the swimming pool and outdoor grilling areas.
The Neighborhood:
Casa Aviari is located in Cabo Matapalo on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, a remote coastal destination where tropical rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean. Known for its world-class surfing and proximity to Corcovado National Park, this region is one of Costa Rica’s most remarkable natural destinations.
The Osa Peninsula is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, home to an estimated 2.5% of the world's biodiversity. With secluded beaches, tropical birds, monkeys, and lush vegetation, wildlife encounters are part of everyday life here.
This is a place to slow down, disconnect from busy city life, and appreciate the natural world.
Getting Around:
Casa Aviari can be reached by car via Puerto Jiménez, followed by approximately 40 minutes on an unpaved gravel road. A 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended, especially during the rainy season.
Alternatively, you can fly into Puerto Jiménez, and we can help arrange transportation to the property.
