"Beautiful lodgings, great atmosphere, delicious elevated continental breakfast, delightful wine and cheese served in the afternoon; which is an excellent way to meet the fellow guests. Ian and Kiersten are the perfect hosts, full of town knowledge and recommendations. The Charles is close to the Presidio, Cannery Row, Fisherman's wharf, beaches, great restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. Our son is stationed at the Presidio, so we will definitely be back and will stay at The Charles!"

"It’s about the view and location with this one. Sitting on the patio overlooking the water was definite highlight. This hotel is quite dated as others have said, and in many cases is quite rundown. Our room had a musty smell to it. The bathroom is sizable with lots of full length mirrors. It’s very nice that they deliver breakfast which is quite basic, but we appreciated that the fruit was very fresh. It was is super easy to walk everywhere in Monterey. "

"We loved our stay at Martine Inn. It’s just a short, beautiful walk to Monterey Bay Aquarium, which made the location perfect. The property itself feels like stepping back in time, in the best way. Both the house and garden are stunning, full of charm and quiet beauty. Breakfast was such a treat, especially looking out over the ocean. We felt completely spoiled the entire time. A truly special place we’d happily return to."

"Clean and Quiet room with a quaint garden setting. I stayed in 112 and I parked in the adjoining lot that is shared with another victorian inn. I felt safe and cozy. Staff was very attentive and very helpful. I would stay here again for the location and I also enjoyed the self check in process."
