Entire Home Near Lake Superior

Beautiful modern family home located in the quiet, little Town of Port Wing only 1.4 miles from the Lake Superior public beach and boat landing, and 2 blocks from National Scenic Byway Highway 13 (Lake Superior Circle Tour).
Located centrally only 46 miles from Duluth and 35 miles from Bayfield.
While staying here, you'll be able to enjoy the entire place to yourself, a specious backyard, large patio, off-street parking for 4 vehicles, outdoor dining, and a BBQ grille for your convenience.
The space
The whole home was recently renovated and has three bedrooms, and two full bathrooms with two additional sofa beds. One sofa bed located in the living room downstairs, and the other located in den area upstairs.
On the main level of the home, there is a full bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, laundry area, and living room eliminating the need to go upstairs if steps are a challenge. We strive to provide full amenities making your stay as easy and convenient as possible.
Other things to note
In the Town of Port Wing, there is lots to do! From the three beautiful public beaches on Lake Superior, to a large network of snowmobile/ATV trails, hiking, biking, fishing, etc.
The property is also located about 1 block away from the cross-town snowmobile trail and most public roads are ATV routes making off-road activities very convenient.

The house was perfect for what we were needing. Plenty of space for our large crew and multiple sleeping options. Port Wing is a great small town with a few different beach options that we enjoyed. The locals kept us in the know about the town and the history of the house. We had a great stay for our first family vacation in about 5 years!

Pete's place was perfect for our group of six people. Great location for us, clean, comfortable and was very well stocked! Pete was so helpful in providing information about things to check out locally and offered to research some he wasn't sure about! I would 100% stay here again!

Port wing - July 2025

Family vacation.. we wanted somewhere between Duluth and Bayfield as we wanted to visit both. Location was ideal for that purpose.. also many hiking trails close by and beach. The house was very nice with updated appliances and lighting. Host was very responsive.

Big family gathering spot

The best thing about this place, for us, is that we got to stay together as an extended family in Port Wing for our granddaughter's graduation. There are not many options in or near Port Wing and we were thrilled to find this new-ish place. It worked out perfectly for us. Walking distance to the high school, coffee shop and Lake Superior.

Great place!

The house was beautiful, roomy, and well equipped. We had a wonderful time at the beach and history museum. Pete checked in to make sure everything was to our liking and to answer any questions about checkout. We will be planning another family vacation here soon.

Beauty in Port Wing

We were two senior citizens couples, visiting from Texas and Georgia, who thoroughly enjoyed this beauty of a home! We had plenty of room, enjoyed the use of the washer and dryer, the large kitchen with two kitchen tables, and the outdoor grill, etc. You can’t go wrong booking this gem!

Great Rental

My husband and I were doing a "color tour" of northern Wisconsin and this was a central location for the Apostle Island / Bayfield area plus several hiking trails where waterfalls were viewable. The property would be ideal for a large group (8-10).

Port Wing

This was my 3rd time staying at The Sonder House. It never disappoints. It is a calming place to stay. It’s clean and fresh. Has all the immunities you need. This time there was a TV in the living room. We didn’t spend much time watching it, but it was nice to watch a movie and relax. If you are visiting Bayfield County, this is the place to stay. It’s easy to book, easy to check in, Pete is quick to respond to any questions. Just a beautiful place to stay inside and out. Strongly recommend! 5 stars!

Perfect stay for our Lake Superior Girl Scout Adventure

The property was clean and well stocked with towels, bedding and kitchen supplies. The dishwasher, washer and dryer all worked great and were used by the group. We cooked several dinners and breakfasts and found all the cookware and supplies we needed. The Port Wing location was perfect for exploring from Bayfield to the east and up the North Coast of MN. Overall a great stay and experience.

Cute cozy house

Overall our stay was nice. Its a small town living, quite and peaceful. The house was definitely big enough for my party of 7, 5 minute drive to the beach and to Twin Falls. Had a nice walk around the town. The only thing was, I wish there was a TV downstairs so that we could all watch a movie.

Fabulous get away in Northern Wisconsin

This beautiful house is located in the perfect spot for any events that you have in Port Wing - it's right next to the town square! It was a great location for us to attend the Fall Festival and Fish Boil. The home is beautiful, clean and very nicely decorated. There are three bedrooms as well as two additional rooms upstairs - a lounge and play room. Pete was helpful and super responsive to all questions. If you are looking for somewhere to stay where you can visit Bayfield, Cornucopia, Iron River, Duluth, Herbster, Port Wing, Superior, this is the place! We'll stay here the next time we return!
