Check-out instructions

The host requires you complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights, lock the doors, and return the keys
Make sure you leave the keys in the lockbox and lock the door when you leave. Please turn the A/C up to 75 degrees. Please take ALL trash (including bathrooms) & place it in the garbage downstairs.
Lock all windows and doors. Turn off all lights. Turn off all TV’s and place all remotes to the top of the TV. Empty all trashcans and place trash in the outdoor cans provided. Remove all linens.
Kitchen: Put all dishes in the dishwasher, put soap in, and turn on. Empty and clean out refrigerator and freezer COMPLETELY. Please clean up any spills. Outdoor: Empty and clean the BBQ pit.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Short walk to beach

This house was perfect for our family gathering!! The sleeping arrangements and main layout are great for multiple families with kids. It’s a short walk to the beach with great ocean views from the balconies.

Girls Getaway

This is our second stay at this property. We love the location and it accommodates us well. We were never able to lock the door and could not lock it with the key. Same issue as last year. Needs a new solution.

Wonderful beach vacation house (family friendly)

We had a wonderful time at the Surfing Mermaids house and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This is a great beach house for a family (or multi-family) vacation. We would definitely book this house again - of the trips we've taken to the Galveston area, this was the best house we've stayed in. Owner / property manager: The owner / property manager was easy to work with and quick to respond to our questions - much appreciated. The house was instantly bookable, which was very convenient. Location: This house is located steps away from the beach (across an access driveway) - less than a 1 minute walk. Finding the house can be a little tricky using typical map programs - there are two roads named the same thing about 4 miles apart (this house is farther northeast). It's a toss-up: half of the map programs seem to locate the wrong one. The check-in instructions could point this out to make the house easier to find. Features: The house has been recently updated and includes many nice features. It matched the listing photos and our expectations. Here are a few features that we noticed: nice layout, granite kitchen counters and a very nice dining table, sturdy deck chairs (heavy, wooden, w/ drink holders), ground-level outdoor shower and bar area, plenty of seating in the main living area, TV with surround sound, satellite TV, working internet (a little slow at times), nice floors & decor, decent bathrooms (relatively modern), convenient washer & dryer. The house had a typical set of kitchen equipment (coffee maker, toaster, etc.) with stainless steel appliances: stove top (electric) & oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher). Cleanliness: Upon arrival the house was clean, counters were wiped (appeared to be disinfected) and beds were straightened. Linens were present and packaged in plastic wrap (a welcome touch in the days of COVID). No hand soap was provided - that's somewhat understandable during COVID, but it is a small thing to provide that we personally found missing/expected. Things that could be improved: The lock box code we were given was incorrect. We checked Vrbo's app, our check-in instructions, etc. - the code was incorrect in all places we looked. We figured it out, but that was a poor first impression. Thankfully, that's easy to fix. As mentioned above, the similarly named roads could be addressed in the check-in instructions. Also consider providing hand soap and/or other small/inexpensive consumable items (such as toilet paper).

The house was beautiful and the location was perfect. The furniture inside the house was not very comfortable and we had a problem with ants downstairs. Over all we had a great time and it was perfect for our family.

The location was great, enjoyed the view and the huge deck but the beach cabin needs a lot of TLC. The biggest problem-ANTS, all through the house. We reported it and the owner responded promptly telling us she would try to get someone out to spray but no one ever came. Two of the toilet seats do not fit properly so they slide when you sit on them. Out of about 11 lights on the ground level only three worked. We had to clean the BBQ before using it and we cleaned after use as requested! I picked up popsicle sticks from the living room floor, took dirty dishes out of the dishwasher and washed them, there is mold in the master bathtub, no dishwasher detergent although you are asked to load dirty dishes and start the dishwasher before leaving, we just washed all dishes by hand, one of the deck chairs needs to be repaired, a renter before us left bait in the ground level sink that we cleaned up but of course the area stunk for two more days, the mildew smell is bad throughout the house and the bed in the master has mold all over the mattress cover and the sheets will not stay on the mattress. The owner really needs new housekeeping. The house isn’t worth the price you pay and far from a Luxury Retreat.

Perfect View, Right on the beach, very quiet and nice layout

Stayed Valentines weekend 2025. Nice clean place on the beach and either nicely renovated or fairly new construction. Owner was very responsive and helpful to locate local amenities and help us with items in the home that we were not familiar with. We will certainly return for another stay!

Beautiful home and gorgeous views!

Had a wonderful stay. Everything was perfect. Loved the natural light, views and comfort. Arrived after dark and it was hard to locate lock box due to not knowing location and no lights. Towels were in dryer and dishes left in dishwasher. I would recommend labels on light switches as there are MANY. These were just minor inconveniences though.

We stayed 4 days in June with our kids and grands. The house is lovely with lots of space…the kids loved having their own room. The location is wonderful! Beachfront with easy beach access. Loved how easy it was to communicate with the owner. We’d love to return for sure!

Beachfront Getaway

Location was great. Easy access to beach, Owner worked with us and answered questions timely. If you plan to stay here you will want to bring extra blankets. There was only one extra blanket but 2 women who freeze. I would try and find out prior to booking if there are any planned events at the beach. Sadly this was our kids Prom and we were unable to access the beach due to a Swingers convention going on the entire weekend. It was very disapointing! The whole scene was very dusturbing! Drugs-nudity-vulgerness.

Great home on beach!

House was very comfortable and in a great location. We loved the view! Had everything we needed there. Several restaurants and the Big Store all nearby. Host was quick to respond to questions and very helpful. Hope to be able to stay again soon.

Beautiful beach house

Overall the house was absolutely beautiful, very clean, and supplied with everything you need. We had a slight issue with the noise from the neighbors, but the property manager was quick to respond. Quick walk to the beach which was nice!
