"We loved the stay here at the Writer’s Retreat which was only a short distance from a wedding venue (Dundee Golf and Country Club). It is pet friendly and our dog Charlie felt right at home plus it was great to have a nice safe path to walk Charlie to the lakeshore where we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the salt water lake. Sandy and John are excellent hosts. "

Having spent my summers on the Bras d’Or lake as a child I knew what I was getting with regards to lake (it is clear, warmer than the ocean, salt water —perfect to me!), but this was my first stay at Lakeside Luxury. "Nice log cottage sitting on Diana Mountain with a nice view of Bras d’Or Lake. The night skys are fantastic. The cottage is secluded. It is about a 35 minute drive to the nearest store of any kind so if you want to get away from everything it is perfect. Stock up before you go. The cottage has high speed internet and good cell phone reception to keep you in touch with the outside world. If you are planning on taking in a lot of the sights of Cape Breton Island then plan on a lot of driving."

"The house offers a picturesque view from both the living room and dinner room. There is a great beach over 15 minutes drive away, Pondville Beach Provincial Park. The area is quiet and the locals are very friendly."

"Oh did we love this spot! Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Kayaking. Nice spot on the dock to enjoy a coffee. Hot tub (which we used multiple times). Not to mention the family cottage vibes that reminded me of our old Northern Ontario family camp that I spent summers at as a child. I would love to return with family one day and enjoy some more time there. The location is wonderful. The space was very clean and the beds were so comfy! Thank you to the hosts for offering such a stunning spot."

From starting each day with coffee on the deck to relaxing in front of the fireplace in the evening, it was everything we hoped for! The location was perfect! A perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee, evening cocktails and fantastic star gazing!The cabin was very clean, comfortable and cozy! Very well equipped with everything we needed and more. "The cottage is secluded with plenty of wildlife and amazing scenery. We were visited by fox, deer and hummingbirds!The kitchen is well appointed and beds are comfortable. Our host was very responsive to questions before and during our stay.The short walk to the shore leads to a rocky beach with lovely views and awe inspiring sunsets.Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind. Make sure to stop for provisions on the way to the cottage as the nearest grocery is about 30 minutes away."

"Secluded and peaceful. It was everything that we needed in a quick weekend getaway. The view was spectacular from the deck and hot tub. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was. No cell service, let us put our phones down and truly relax (wifi was great and the signal was strong). Christoph was helpful, he called and emailed to ensure we had directions. Awesome, relaxing trip, we plan to come back again!"

"Looking for peace and quiet with an amazing view; this is the place to go. The wooden cottage is located up a hill with an amazing view on Lake Bras d’Or. The pictures are 100% accurate. Only thing to keep in mind, the drive up the hill is quite steep and the gravel road is quite bumpy. If you don’t drive a 4x4 or an awd vehicle, make sure your car is not too close to the ground or you could scrape and cause damage."
