Pier 5 Marina Rules & Courtesies for Guests
Pier 5 Marina is part of a community that is comprised of our liveaboards and guest visitors within the
marina, as well as the adjacent Pier 5 Condo owners and tenants who live next to us. While you are staying
with us, we humbly ask that you help us to keep our property clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone. We
sincerely appreciate your cooperation.
RULES:
Please keep the area around your rented boat tidy, with no unsightly items left out, and especially no items on
the main docks that could block or make unsafe the pathway of others.
No swimming in the marina under any circumstances. Stray electric is rare, but does exist due to the many
power lines near the water. Electrocution is a concern at almost all marinas.
If you have any issues with water pressure or a water line inside your boat, please notify our Pier 5 Dockmaster
immediately at the phone number below. Water issues on boats can cause major damage and actual risk of
sinking!
All trash must be kept securely inside your boat until it can be safely deposited into our lidded cans that you’ll
find at the top of the ramps near the lobby. You’ll find that aluminum cans have a separate blue bin for
recycling, as does small cardboard and paper. Washed out glass bottles can be put into the yellow mop bucket.
We would so much appreciate your help in keeping these items in their proper bins, which allows us to do a
next-level version of recycling than what is normally available here in Philly. :-)
The marina is a no-discharge zone. Untreated sewage may not, under any circumstances ever, be released into
the marina basin. If your rented boat does not have an approved incinerating or cassette toilet, you MUST use
the bathrooms in the lobby.
The lobby door cannot be left propped open, or even left slightly ajar, without a marina resident to stand
watch over it. This is to prevent unauthorized parties from entering, and to protect the security of all of our
boats and personal property. Please make sure the doors close properly behind you when you leave.
You may not have additional friends or guests stay in the marina, other than the approved guests listed on your
rental agreement with your boat owner.
If you would like to have (a) friend(s) visit while you are here, please contact our Pier 5 Dockmaster at the
number below to make arrangements for their approved entrance.
All music and noise audible beyond your own boat must officially cease at 10 p.m. nightly, but please see
additional courtesies requested below.
Children under the age of 12 may not be left unattended in the marina.
Friendly dogs are welcome, but all care must be made to pick up after them.
No use of illegal drugs on the premises will be permitted.
Alcohol consumption should take place safely in/on your own boat.
As per the Philadelphia statute, no smoking of any kind is permitted in the public spaces of the lobby,
bathrooms, porch landing or within 20 feet of the front lobby doors. Smoking is also not allowed INSIDE
boats, to prevent fire hazards.
No candle or open flames are allowed on or in Pier 5 boats. One hefty wake, and those could easily topple and
cause a fire.
Loitering in the bathroom(s) and/or lobby, or any use of either beyond their obvious intended use, is not
permitted.
Please report any need for repair to the dockmaster at the number below as soon as possible.
COURTESIES:
Our bathrooms and lobby are a shared space for all of us. Please tidy up after your own use in a way that you
would hope the person ahead of you would do for you.
The washer and dryer are shared by guests and liveaboards alike. Please be mindful of the timing of your wash
process to keep your laundry moving and out of the way of the next person in line.
Music is great and we all love it. But please be mindful of what time it is, who is next to you and how loud your
music choices might be in their ears, as they are trying to listen to something else inside their boat.
Remember also to practice tolerance regarding the sounds and goings-on of others. We do live at the edge of a
vibrant city — full of music and life and all sorts of noise! Some level of tolerance for that will be necessary
for you to enjoy the rare and wonderful experience of life on the Delaware River!
