"The staff was very good had a wonderful time. The road was a little ruff but worth the trip. Although other guess should be aware that the coffee made in the morning in the large pot may not be communal coffee. Made a pot for me and my boyfriend from coffee we had brought and by the time we came in frome outside others had helped themselves to our coffee so we only got one cup from the pot."

"The Machias River Inn being my first time being there, and living in the state of Maine it was 10/10. The cleanest room that you can tell was cleaned properly (I’ve stayed elsewhere in the state and can tell when housekeeping leaves behind trash visible in plain sight it wasn’t cleaned or swept). Helen’s restaurant has the best pie and it’s right on the property. The waterfront views were remarkable! We watched seals every morning. Also not to take away from guides but honestly if you go to any beach nearby you’re going to see Seals and puffins if you don’t want to pay the cost of a boat tour!"

"Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was vintage as advertised , I would have liked the bathroom mirror over the sink . But the water for the shower was hot as soon as I turned it on. The lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful and told us if we needed anything just let her know and they would take care of the issue . I would recommend this Hotel,the rooms have ave beautiful views of the Bay looking over to Canada."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Beach. The views are incredible. It is extremely private and quiet. The beach area was much larger than I expected and it's only for you! The home is very well stocked. The cupboards were so full that we didn't have room for all of the food we brought. That's not a bad thing. It just goes to show how stocked it is! Despite being at the height of summer, the house remained pleasantly cool without air conditioning. I loved the fresh ocean breezes while I slept (very comfortable beds, by the way). The grocery store is only about 20 minutes away. Nearby Jasper beach is one of the coolest beaches I have ever been to. Our host, Sue, left us a welcome gift of wine and custom soap which was so kind and thoughtful."

"Exactly what I was looking for. Stunning property, generous host, good nights sleep. Cute little markets within driving distance with snacks and ingredients to cook a delicious dinner. All of the necessary supplies were available."

"Lovely cabin with fantastic attention to detail - so many nice touches, including the fire pit, the landscaping and short trail to the water. The Lighthouse Cabin made a great launching spot as we hiked the amazing Coastal Trail at Quoddy Head State Park and explored Campobello Island, across the Friendship Bridge into Canada. On Campobello, we enjoyed an excellent short tour of FDR’s family retreat, found fantastic hikes and made a slightly dangerous (slippery) hop over to the Head Harbour Lightstation, which can only be done at low tide. Even saw some whales along the way! If we had more time, we would have loved to hike the Cobscook Shores Parklands available throughout Lubec, some of which are very close to the cabin."
