The staff was very friendly. Check-in was easy. The location was great. My only complaint was that the room was smaller than I expected it to be. I also wish that had better privacy curtains. I will definitely return to stay at the Hotel Malar.

The staff that checked us in was great, very kind and helpful. Even carried some of our bags up the four flights of stairs to the fourth floor! The other person who was at the front desk was not very helpful. Pack light, there is no elevator and the stairs are skinny.

Room was clean and well kept. The bed was 2 single beds pushed together into a double which meant there was regularly a gap in the middle which was a disappointing feature. Staff were welcoming and helpful.

The space was very small but functional enough. There were out of date signs saying free water bottles were available on your first day, but when I asked the staff they said no. The beds were comfortable, however the room was surface cleaned only - they didn’t not pick up things behind the bed or clean the sink. Also, we had to ask for more toilet paper and lotion etc was not provided. We also asked for recommendations and the staff didn’t have much to share. I wish they took a bit more ownership and provided restaurant suggestions. They were always pleasant but definitely not concierge level service. The stairs are plentiful, so don’t forget anything in the room! Also, air conditioning worked great in the room but our bathroom window didn’t close and it was quite hot. The shower was comically small.
