"We had a good stay overall. Hotel/B&B was in a great central location within walking distance to just about any where. The area was safe, a few feet from numerous shops and eateries. Breakfast provided was limited but adequate and tasty. Front desk staff was great, very helpful and answered our questions with a smile and truly helped guide us in our travels. The room itself was nice, with a good size bathroom and amenities. Beds were comfy and ac worked great. Only issue we had was we booked through hotels.com and chose the 2 bedroom option for 2 of us, myself and my best friend. This was of course a more expensive option than the usual one room with 2 beds, but we decided to splurge. However, we were charged an additional fee for using THE BED in the second room. Why would we upgrade to a second bedroom if we weren't going to use the bed, it just sounds silly. There was no mention or choice of using or not using a bed upon booking...but why would there be, it's odd. We were told because it was just 2 of us, only one bed was included (in the 2 bedroom apartment??). There was no mention of this upon booking, only a note in the room stating the policy about the extra charge. Having booked weeks in advance, this was very misleading, as we were charged twice, and we were truly disappointed in this otherwise great stay."

"This hotel is a gem! I wanted to move in. The staff was extremely helpful. We parked our car with them and the fee is 40 euros but that is absolutely the going rate for hotel parking in Ortigia. Luca, the Desk Manager was a delight. We made last minute reservations and he was so helpful and welcoming. We absolutely love our rooms facing the sea. I slept with my window open and enjoyed the sounds of the waves all night. Luca also made dinner reservations for us and we had a marvelous evening. I wanted to move in. The hotel is new but comfortable. The bathroom/shower was well laid out and luxurious."

"Overall, we had a good stay at Grand Hotel Villa Politi. The hotel has a beautiful historic character and was very clean. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of both continental and traditional Italian options. The swimming pool was another great highlight. Its location was very convenient for travelling by car, just outside the ZTL, with on-site parking available. However, the hotel has quite a lot of stairs, which can make getting around less convenient, and we found the staff could have been more helpful and attentive. Overall, a good option for exploring Syracuse, especially for travellers arriving by car."
