"The BOSENKAN was a great experience. We really enjoyed the Onsen, even though it was our very first experience. The food was traditional, and there were a lot of new tastes for us which was nice. We were surprised by the large number of non-native workers there were. It did make understanding them difficult, and we felt it was less authentic. But we still enjoyed our stay! We will miss Mizuki-chan!"

"Went hiking on the Nakasendo Trail. Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, as it is one of the closest and best hotels in the vicinity. Overall, it was a good experience. Staff were courteous, as usual, with the Japanese hospitality. The room is clean, but a bit tired. Could do with a renovation. Buffet is good, a wide spread of food and drinks, and the quality is good. Service staff are friendly and extremely hardworking. Except you get the same Breakfast and Dinner menu every day. I think they don't expect anyone to stay beyond 1 day. No other restaurants nearby, so you don't have much of an option. "

"Large hotel outside the city good for group travelers. Onsen on premises was excellent. Breakfast was also good. With my arrival I asked the reception to eat in a Japanese restaurant and was told only available the western restaurant with Pizza, burger etc…. I went to check the restaurants and checked the Japanese one if available and to my surprise they told me no problem I can get reservation which I did. I returned to the reception and asked why I was told otherwise. An apology was in place but I guess that’s the policy to separate the foreigners from locals so the atmosphere to be kept undisturbed by foreigners who some may have bad manners. Unfortunately it’s being repeated in many places I visited after the current flood of tourists. "

"The breakfast buffet had lots of options - I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit, bacon and eggs. The room was spotless and the shower was incredible after a long day - the pressure felt like a massage. The hotel lobby is beautiful and features wood and wood carvings from the local area. The onsen was also a wonderful treat at the end of the day, although, sadly, the outside area was closed during our stay. "
