The taj is a very old traditional hotel with nice rooms with log fires if you get cold. In this covid period there is limited food but then the breakfast must improve as to not have proper coffee in a 5 star is not acceptable. the quality of breakfast does not meet 5star. The staff are very good but a bit slow sometimes for serving drinks and food.

Memorable stay!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Savoy run by the Taj. The service was excellent from all staff, and the food really delicious. The cool weather made our sojourn there all the more memorable, especially the time spent before the fireplace in the room.

Everything is fine except for the fact that the hotel charges the guest the amount in indian rupees for the agreed amount, then gives a lower conversion value (example the usd to inr is $71 and the hotel’s rate is $67). Guests are unknowingly paying 5% more. There is no option on the credit card machine to change the transaction currency. It took 3 trips to the reception, meeting withe the general nanager snd 4 hrs to resolve the issue. This is a business model that these hotels are using to cheat unkowing customers.

Great hotel
Lovely hotel in Ooty. Hotel has been recently refurbished and the room was very nice. Lovely furnishings, comfy bed, spacious.
Food was excellent and service was very attentive and friendly.
I would definitely stay there again.
