We absolutely loved this place. It was by far our favorite stay during our 10 days in Japan. Definitely recommend spending extra on the dinner, it was amazing.

Faboulous traditional meal

Absolutely quiet room with harbour view. The traditional evening meal served in the room was exceptional, both for the eyes and the taste buds.

和風スィートルーム　本当の贅沢

離れに泊まりました。玄関の間、寝室、書斎、別室にトイレと風呂があり、廊下でつながっています。スィートルームを超える贅沢な間取りでした。フロントでチェックインしている間に、3台のエアコンを起動しておいてくださり、和風平屋の割に暖かでした。部屋は無論の事、廊下に面したガラス戸に至るまでみな丁寧に清掃してあり、汚れ一つありませんでした。 外は広い庭に面した一軒家で静かです。風呂は入れるのが面倒なので浴場に行きましたが清潔でした。 玄関から部屋、浴場まで徹底的に清掃してあり、維持管理の努力に頭が下がるおもいでした。 料理は良く吟味された材料を使ってあり、良いお味でした。

Tradiontal, polite, and good service

Read some negative comments from various hotels booking website, have struggled to book it or not, but there are not really many hotels / ryokans in Onomichi. Anyway, the reality is, starting from the check in till check out, we are very satisfied and amazed. We need to give it a fair comment to support the staff there. The hotel is just by the seaside, thus we enjoyed wide ocean view from our rooms. It is over 100 years history, surely it will look old, but it is full of retro and historical feel. It is well maintained and clean. The old lady keeper and the old man at front desk do not really speak English but they are very friendly and tried the best to provide good service. From the welcome traditional green tea and cake, and escort us to our rooms and explanation of the facilities, we felt very welcomed. The onsen is small as other comments have stated, but there is everything you need being supplied, it is clean, tidy and well maintained! The Japanese dinner was amazingly tasty and beautiful (which is out of our expectations due to some of the negative comments read). With many small dishes cooked and served immediately, we were so full and enjoyed the night. The breakfast was also in Japanese style, it was simple but still beautifully arranged and really tasty. We would like to thanks to the two lady staff who served us all the way. Will surely recommend this traditional Japanese Ryokan to everyone if you visit Onomichi.

Really traditional Japanese accommodation.

Located in a gorgeous, quiet, seaside town the accommodation was stunning. Really traditional. Main issue was that the staff who showed us to our room spoke no English at all so we could not understand nearly anything that was being said. Meals were also super traditional which meant a lot of it was raw or very unusual for us. Very friendly staff and clean rooms

お部屋は快適でした。

お部屋食が良かったですけど。。景色も良くてご飯はすごく美味しかったです。お風呂は少しぬるめでした。ドライヤーをもっと強風の物にして欲しかったです。でも隠れ家みたいでお部屋がすごくゆっくりできて良かったので又、是非伺います(*^^*)
