ALOHA,
We at Hawaiian Journeys offer unique and affordable vacation experiences, by using alternative structures known as Yurts.
Our Yurt, located on the big island of Hawaii, allows for more space and a vacation experience you'll want to share with others. The Yurt is fully furnished with queen bed, refrigerator, microwaves and more. It's like camping with all the comforts of home.
Welcome to Hawaiianjourneys. We invite you to join our Ohana for a vacation designed to be one you will remember for many years to come. Our accommodations are spacious, comfortable, unique and private. Invented over a 1000 years ago, a yurt is a comfortable, cozy building with great functionality.
We have modernized it, to include one bedroom, modern amenities and gorgeous views among cool and relaxing breezes. We are an eco friendly Inn. We recycle our gray water for plants and pineapples. Because of our location you will see more of Hawaii then if you stayed in Kona and you will sleep better. After all There is MORE to Hawaii then beaches and bars... and isn't a vacation supposed to be relaxing. Stay with us once, and I guarantee you will be back again. We have other one and two bedroom yurts available, please contact us for rates and details. To see pictures or our other yurts, go to our website.

I always wanted stay in a yurt! What better place than Hawaii. Very comfortable, spacious. A great place to stay and venture out to the island.

We had a wonderful stay at the yurts and truly appreciated the peaceful experience. The owners Kai & Lisa were very helpful, responsive, and made us feel welcomed throughout our stay. We also admired their nature-friendly approach, especially the thoughtful and responsible way waste is managed, which aligns beautifully with the surrounding environment.
The ocean view was absolutely stunning and added so much to the overall charm of the place. At night, the sky was breathtaking—stars were clearly visible, making for a quiet and magical evening. The location was also very convenient, with an easy and scenic drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Overall, it was a relaxing, unique, and memorable stay, and we would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy nature and tranquility on the Big Island.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week here. It is away from the high tourist area and completely relaxing. Equipped with everything you need. Owners were super great and helpful. Makes visiting Hilo and Kona doable. Pretty much in the middle making easy to go up either coast. Absolutely want to stay here again!
Intriguing topography! Super clean yurt and comfortable beds. Friendly hosts. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Had a dridge, microwave, toaster and even dishes and provided drinking water. I Definitely would recommend.
Great stay. We began with a farm stay at Hamakua - then smaller resort at Punulu’u and our last two nights at this luxury Yurt. It was well appointed / better than most - and very comfortable. It is definitely clamping and not “resorting” but that added to our Big Island adventure. Our hosts were amazing and communication fast and efficient. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The room was clean and it is basically like a big tent. It was raining and windy the two nights we were there and it was really loud with the sound of rain hitting the cover and material flapping in the wind. Everything inside felt damp including the sofa. The yurts are built on a rural residential area and there is nothing within walking distance. There is a very very distant view of the ocean if you stand on the property in the right spot. There is no running water inside the Yurt. It has a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, toaster and cooking utensils but no sink. The bathroom and shower is in a separate building a short walk away. The drive from the Yurt to the Volcano National park is an hour and 10 mins away. The advertisement says it is an 8 min drive. The internet wasn't working but it was not a big deal and we purchased a roaming package instead. We are used to camping and roughing it a bit but this yurt fell short of our expectations.
Everything was clean and the host is very nice. They did give away my yurt that slept 4 and put me in one that slept 2. Considering I had 3 in my party, it was a bit inconvenient. But the host helped us with a blow up mattress.
Great communication with host. Fun and unique stay in the yurt. Clean, with comfortable queen bed and good amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker). Quiet environment high on the hill. Shower and two toilets within the yurt. One toilet is an incinerator (for going #2), which took a little getting used to, but was easy to use.Highly recommend for younger couples.

Great experience! Everything was very clean and with great amenities!
The yurt was amazing! Very cozy and comfortable. Nice and quiet at night.
This was such a pleasure! We have 2 college age daughters and it was a nice to unplug and spend some quality time with the family. Great ocean and star viewing!
This is our second time to stay here. We loved it, and came back because it was so quiet and comfortable, and such a beautiful place and view. The yurts are well equipped and clean. The elevation makes for comfortable cool, but not cold, nights. The central sky light is spectacular at night with so many stars. It is calm and quiet and beautiful with various flowers. But it is easily accessed from Kona South Point and Volcanoes National Park. If we get back to the big island again, we hope to stay here once more!
The host and hostess have put together a true paradise. The grounds are seemingly cared for by master gardeners, the flaura is superb. The yurts are the best sleeping environment, with natural white noise. The convenience of being away but near was excellent. My host and hostess even alerted me to the volcano episodes so I was able to see first hand Pele's fire in Kilauea Crater. I cannot wait for my next adventure here. Mahalo isn't enough. WOW!
Everything was great. Beautiful surroundings. Great views. Manager was very nice. Very clean and the chickens, large and small babies, very cute!! I would stay here again.
This was my very 1st time staying in a Yurt, and if I could stay in one every time I travel, I would. It's a little bit of a drive to reach this area, but the views are well worth it! I arrived late in the evening, and the property manager was quick to let me in, explain the ins and outs of the Yurt, and offer me suggestions of things to do during my stay.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience, communication with the owners and property manager was fantastic, and I look forward to going back again and getting the chance to spend a longer amount of time.
Mahalo to Lisa, Al, and Kai for their hospitality!

Yurt was clean and pleasant and in a beautiful non touristy part of the island
there is a separate locked bathhouse with chemical toilets. It’s clean and smells good and has nice towels etc
