This is a lovely place to stay. The owner, John, is very pleasant. Apparently, he also cooks the breakfast which is great. We will certainly be going back.
A lovely stay in this glorious B&B. Cottesmore is a lovely village in rutland, full of chocolate-box thatched cottages, a nice pub, chippy and convenience store/post office.
The owners & staff were all very friendly and helpful, giving ideas and guidance when asked. It was a simple check in, being shown to our room, but very Covid-safe. The room was No.6 in the annexe around the back. This has a huge super-king bed and two comfy tub chairs. There's a "p"-bath with a digital shower over it, adding a fancy twist on the usual. The breakfast was delicious, with local butchers sausages and bacon, and local free range eggs. The mushrooms weren't tinned (an excellent change from other B&Bs), although the tomatoes were. There's a choice of a full monty and a half monty, and the smaller one was more than enough. They have homemade jams or marmalades to enjoy with the toast and the coffee or tea was very good - and they're available to purchase along with some homemade chutneys. Our only niggle - and this is being super critical - was the room had a few cobwebs and we found a sweet wrapper under a chair, but with the Covid problems, this is understandable, but needs addressing. Overall, it was a lovely stay in a lovely village, in a lovely part of the country, and yes, we're already planning for a return next year.
Polite but not warm reception. Not the most comfortable pillows or bed and the wi-if dropped out. Good breakfast and lovely private sitting area overlooking the garden.
Friendly hosts, comfortable room and lovely breakfast, in a historic building. We were made to feel welcome, even though we were just there for one night.
Excellent for our weekend stay. Greeted warmly on arrival, the waitress at breakfast was friendly and efficient, the breakfast was excellent as well.
The complimentary sherry in the room was an unexpected but appreciated touch. Nothing to complain about.
Comfortable, good breakfast, quiet and pleasant surroundings. Very helpful. Minor maintenance issues and curtains in room do not block out the light well.
The Tithe Barn is a beautiful B & B, sat in a gorgeous location and beautiful surroundings. My room was amazing with a conservatory to sit in overlooking the gardens bringing a lot of light in to the room. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do anymore to help. I would stay here again and would recommend it to my friends and colleagues.
Been here before, nice clean place to stay, showers are only disappointment being electric and us being used to a power shower, very friendly staff, would go back again.
We were upgraded to a room in the annexe. It had a huge bed, a power shower (we didn't figure out what the power button did) and some nice touches like a decanter of sherry. The downside to the annexe was the 2 minute walk to breakfast in a cold wind, but we got a nice welcome and breakfast was good. We had the half size option, and it was still a big breakfast. We would be happy to stay at Tithe Barn again. We ate at the village pub which is only a 10 minute walk, and the food was good.
This was my 4th stay at The Tithe Barn, my previous stays being many years ago which I remembered fondly. I was not disappointed, the high standards of both the accommodation itself and the service provided has clearly been maintained. I look forward to returning and would happily recommend to anyone considering booking.
We had a terrific time at the Tithe Barn. The owner was helpful and responsive, we had the room with the conservatory so could enjoy the lovely garden.
The property is within easy walking distance from the village centre and the beautiful church there.
Overall we could not fault the Tithe Barn. Food and atmosphere were great. Being near the beautiful Barnsdale Gardens was an added benefit.
Excellent B&B, very nice quite area, easy to find, good car parking and made to feel very welcome. On,y stayed 1 night but would make a very good base if staying longer in the area.
Excellent cooked breakfast made fresh to order
