"Staying at Hacienda Barrigona was like a dream. The property is beautiful and well tended. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable. The beach looked like a postcard. The meals were delicious and prepared with great care. But it's the people that make Hacienda Barrigona so special. Lyna and the whole staff were kind, attentive, friendly and helpful. "

Hotel Riu Guanacaste - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"To many ants in the room , also needs a nightclub for partying"

Hotel Bosque del Mar, Playa Hermosa
10/10 Excellent
"This was such a great place, the views and staff were amazing! It was awesome staying right off the beach. The beach was beautiful and not overcrowded. We could walk down the beach to different restaurants. We caught a sail boat ride that picked us up from the beach. The hotel staff coordinated it all. Would definitely go back to this hotel!!"

Occidental Tamarindo - All Inclusive
2/10 Terrible
"The rooms aren’t clean. The hotel itself is out dated. The first room they gave me was a king and I booked a double. The staff told me it’s at their discretion what they give. They then gave me a double. It was very dirty with stains on the sheets. They then switched me to another room. I woke up with ants in my bed. I was over it at this point."

Wyndham Tamarindo
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel has some of the best views we’ve ever experienced. The infinity pool is absolutely stunning, the grounds are spotless and beautifully maintained, and the wildlife around the property made the stay even more special. We heard howler monkeys in the trees both front and back, saw green macaws flying overhead daily, and plenty of other tropical birds throughout our stay. The service was excellent from start to finish. Check-in was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast staff were always kind and attentive. The rooms were well equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a hairdryer, and a mini fridge/mini bar. We never had an issue finding loungers by the pool, and the sunsets from both the balcony and infinity pool were absolutely incredible. There is also a pool bar serving a great assortment of blended drinks, local beers, craft beers, and hard liquor available for an additional charge — perfect for relaxing by the pool and enjoying the view. Breakfast was good overall and fairly consistent each day. They served scrambled eggs, coffee, juices, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and pastries and of course gallo pinto. The hotel shuttle was a great perk, running hourly from 9am–9pm to downtown Tamarindo and the Langosta Beach Club. We often walked into town, but the hills on the way back can definitely be a workout in the heat. The Langosta Beach Club was another huge highlight and an amazing included amenity. It’s right on the beach with a beautiful pool."

Azura Beach Resort - All Inclusive - Adults Only
8/10 Good
"Wilkin was our server Nokia restaurant. He was always attentive and had a warm greeting. The Ribeye, roasted potatoes with pesto sauce, and side house salad. Spinach ravioli with white sauce. Solid 8 on meal. 10 on server. Kimberly and Axel at Chill & Grill were so sweet. Very courteous and accommodating. The wings, burgers, onion rings, and Ceasar salad was a good lunch option. Drinks were flowing. 8/10 Room service was ordered on the third day in advance. Arrived on time. Ceasar salad. Salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. Cheesecake had strawberry and sliced grape with sauce on it. Not mentioned on menu. Overall 7/10. Breakfast was always good. Made to order omelets, fresh juice, some sort of meat (bacon, sausage or hash), plantain, peas and rice and an assortment of fruit. Francisco was our server multiple times and was always kind and offered great suggestions when asked. A few suggestions would be not to have electrical equipment going before 0800 in the mornings. We weren't able to sleep in. Power outages 3x. Rooms need to have microwaves and the refrigerators need to have bottled water as a stocked selection. . I had to purchase Chrisal water at the gift store for $5 US and $8.50 for one bottle of Evian. Also, no entertainment was provided or advertised and excursions were limited due to multiple ATV breakdowns. Won't be fixed until June. Overall 7/10"

Occidental Papagayo - Adults Only - All inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"The resort isn't brand new, but it's kept up very well and the older build actually brings the building and the grounds much charm! It fits nicely into the allure of the region! When I booked I saw that the resort is labeled as "all inclusive" but only saw the breakfast buffet as being included with our room purchase, which was ok since we were just using the hotel as a stop over for flying out of Liberia the next morning. So I was surprised when we checked in that they are a True All Inclusive with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bars on property all included in the package! The property is beautiful with two large pools and the most wonderful breeze coming up from the ocean! This was very welcomed after 3 weeks in Nosara which is far less breezy and far more dusty which makes it a bit harder to handle the hot weather of the period we visited. The rooms are nice and clean with a nice patio, ours facing the water, which allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the birds and the weather with a drink in our hand! Our only regret is that we didn't realize how nice this property was before booking because we would have liked to take advantage of their amenities for at least 3 or 4 days as we will next time we come to Costa Rica! One guest I talked to even said they snorkeled with turtles near the hotels beach which the extra days will hopefully allow us to see next time. "
