The Neighborhood:
Snoozy Goose is located in the village of Ovingham in the south of Northumberland. This quaint village has a playing field, a corner shop, a local pub called the White Swan and a rum bar called Shenanigans. Snoozy Goose caces the Ancient Goose Green where, every year, a traditional fair is held. For Runners, there is a weekly parkrun on the Banks of the Tyne which starts just across Ovingham bridge every Saturday at 9am.
Just one mile from Ovingham is the town of Prudhoe where there is plenty for you to discover. Explore Prudhoe Castle which was originally built in a series of Norman Castles along the Tyne after the 1066 conquest. Enjoy a fun-filled day at Prudhoe Waterworld which has a 25m pool, a slide, a splash pool, a wave pool and a huge inflatable. If you enjoy a spot of golf, Prudhoe Golf Club is a short drive from Snoozy Goose.
Ovingham is also 2.5 miles from the pretty village of Wylam. With a rich heritage in railway, it is the birthplace of George Stephenson so it’s a great place to see where one of Britain’s railway pioneers was born. If you’re interested in trains, we’d recommend a visit to Wylam Railway Museum where you can learn about the village’s history. There are plenty of scenic places to walk and cycle in Wylam too. You can head along Wylam Waggonway or Hagg Bank Bridge.
Getting Around:
Ovingham has great bus routes to the nearby towns and villages. Hop on the X84 route which travels from Newcastle Eldon Square to St Andrew’s with stops in Wylam and Hexham. If you want to visit Prudhoe, the 686 bus will take you there.

Liked: Location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
The cottage is lovely, however 60 to clean it was a joke when it wasn’t even that clean when we got there and had to hoover it ourselves due to a few bugs on the kitchen floor and the rug in the living room covered with stains. The TV didn’t work and couldn’t receive any channels, and when we spoke to the customer service team they basically said we didn’t know how to work a TV, even though there was clearly an issue with the Ariel. Beds are comfy, place is nicely decorated, but just wasn’t happy with the customer support team treating us like idiots and the 60 cleaning charge. Also, once booked in you receive so many messages a day regarding a private chef or a tour guide that it became a nuisance and started to ruin the build up to the holiday. I’m not saying don’t stay here because it is a lovely cottage. However, sort the tv out and actually clean the place properly to warrant charging us 60 to clean it if you have a pet.
