"Had a lovely stay at Windsor cottage. Well presented, great amenities and the most comfortable bed in the master bedroom. Slept like a log! Ate out in local restaurants, which were lovely especially Alberto’s Italy. There are a couple of free parking areas in town 5-10 minutes away. During our stay there was a film set in place for Father Brown and a restriction at the end of the road. It didn’t take away from our stay, but was glad of the premier inn parking just a 100m away. "Difficult to operate the aircon in the room, slightly shambolic breakfast arrangement, cups not very clean, lack of choice of breakfast fruits. Very shabby seating in the bar area. On the plus side, very comfortable hotel and excellent for the theatre in particular as well as for the town centre. Parking at the hotel is £10 per night."

"Efficient but not particularly warm welcome. Breakfast is not included so I can’t comment on that. £12 charge to use pool and gym was pretty steep so I can’t comment on that either. Bed was comfortable. Room was pretty soulless and the tea & coffee making facilities were perfunctory- no biscuits or complimentary water. Barman was very good. Probably a good venue for a conference or work event but I wouldn’t rush back"

"Easy check in. We did not get charged for an early check in. £30 to pre book a 12pm check in is extortionate. Either your room is available or it’s not! That aside we had a lovely stay. Clean and modern bathroom. Loved the Biscoff biscuits ( 2 each!) We ate in the restaurant and everything we had was delicious. Super service and everything was hot."

"Best low cost place I have stayed. Boarding on luxury. Well maintained room lots of space for all parts desk,bed ,shower, vanity and toilet. Light and bright hallways and stairs. Quiet, nice size tv (noisy bathroom fan) would be my only complaint. Also great old feel to the reception area and comfortable lounge area. Great breakfast with lots of options. And all at a good price. Walking distance bro other shops and places to eat. Would definitely recommend "

"We were glad we opted for an upgrade to a room in the Manor House. A lovely room. Breakfast was buffet but plenty of choices and coffee was okay. Service good. We visited the pool and steam and sauna which although obviously in need of a refurbish we still enjoyed. The bar and lounge areas were comfortable. Our only problem, which was quite major for us, was Reception. My husband is disabled and we are both elderly, but when we asked for our bags to be brought down to Reception the Receptionist told us that the staff were all too busy as was she. In the event we left our bags in the room, and delayed our onward journey for an hour to help with our request. Room 2 has steep and shallow stairs that we couldn’t have managed with cases, overall left a very unpleasant taste after an otherwise enjoyable stay. I have asked for the Manager’s email or to get in touch privately but no joy."
