Very basic property for the price you pay the balcony was the only thing that I really liked. No microwave Basic tv with no major channels like HBO or MAX . No bathtub but the shower was nice.

The room climate was lovely. It was still balmy in New York and the AC was adjustable from the room, which was great. I love being able to sleep in a cold room. The room was very clean, and very quaint. It has a lot of charm, it's very classic New York. The Balcony was also a lovely touch.

Great Balcony!

Best thing about the room was the balcony! The room itself is nice but very small. We did not get daily housekeeping for a few days of our stay. Walking distance to a lot of great food and the subway. The staff was very pleasant, but plan on having your morning coffee elsewhere as there is only instant coffee with no sugar or creamer

I stay here often, and always enjoy it. For me it’s a great area with good transport, staff are wonderful, rooms are bigger and more nicely furnished than you usually find in NYC hotels, and the place has a lot of character which you never find in hotels, period.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the lower east side NYC. Our friends were staying in Chinatown and their hotel was an 8 minute walk from the Allen Hotel. It was peaceful, quiet, clean, roomy for a NY hotel with a balcony. Would definitely come back here.

The staff was excellent. They offered to hold our bags after checkout so we could continue to explore. Some NYC hotels won’t do that! The room was super clean with plenty of surrounding dining options. Great affordable lower East Side option.

The area is excellent. You’re right near Chinatown and great boutiques, Katz’s Deli, Russ and Daughters, the Tenement Museum. Trains are easy. Away from the touristy areas like Times Square but still easy to play the tourist. The hotel needs some updates. Instead of buying new sheets there are hand stitching to repair them. The bathroom wasn’t super clean. The room is small which is expected in NYC and there was a really nice balcony in our room. Would probably stay at another hotel in the same area next trip there.

Great hotel in Manhattan. Walking distance to China Town, SoHo, Little Italy. Lots of dining options on the nearby streets also. 2 metro stations nearby so you can get anywhere, quickly. Staff are fantastic

Happy with my stay

I stayed on the 8th floor and my room had an amazing terrece (basically private) with great views. The room and overall hotel has a lot of character and unique pieces in the room and shared spaces. The staff were super friendly and pleasant to chat with :) For me, this was a great find and a pleasant surprise as my room was big in general but especially for NY!

The room was mostly clean, but there was some black mold in the shower and some on the ceiling where the wall meets the ceiling. I asked the front desk if someone could address the mold in the shower, and they said ok, but when I returned at night, it didn't seem to have been addressed (but my AC had been turned way down, so the room was cold). The gym had pretty good equipment, though it was pretty warm in the room. The other thing to note is that the only coffee provided is a kettle with instant coffee packets. A nearby coffee shop opens at 7am.
