About this property
Quiet self-contained 3 km from Nelson CBD
Mākoha is Maori for Tranquil; which perfectly describes this hidden oasis. It s self-contained and provides beautiful country views in a spacious one-bedroom apartment. Mākoha is located in a quiet residential cul-de-sac but is only 3km from the center of Nelson city. It s the perfect place to relax and have a bbq on the patio after a day out exploring everything the region has to offer.
The space: Mākoha Place is a cute one bedroom apartment below our own home. It's private and has its own separate entrance. The apartment is warm and has great views of the surrounding farmyard hills. It has a kitchen (fridge/freezer, bench top elements, microwave, jug, toaster, etc) which opens to the lining room (tv, stereo, & sofa that can convert into a bed). There's a spacious bathroom and bedroom (with a queen-size bed). It is furnished with quality furniture and appliances so you will be very comfortable. It has a private patio with outdoor seating and BBQ and resident native birds. A port-a-cot can also be supplied.
Guest access: You will have the apartment to yourself, as we will set it up for you. Plenty of parking on a quiet residential cul-de-sac.
Interaction with guests: Once contacted, I will give you all the specifics of how to confirm your booking and happily answer any questions that you may have about the place. You'll have my contact information in case of an emergency while here.
Other points to note include: We do have a cat - which will more than likely pay you a visit. We also have a dog (lab x spaniel), who lives upstairs with us and in a private secure yard, so he won't bother you at all (but you're welcome to visit Monty if you like!) He's not a barky dog.
As the apartment is on a lower, separate level from our house you may also hear occasional noise - consistent with apartment living.
As we're also parents, in case you're traveling with infants you should also note that the patio does contain many small pebbles, and the patio has a drop of about 1.5m on the downhill side.

Very handy to town
Good communication with owners but also very quiet and private, especially given its downstairs from where they live
We had a very pleasant two week stay. It was a great base for visiting the Nelson region. With a car it was a very quick and easy journey into Nelson City.

Comfortable one bed apartment, clean, kitchen well-equipped
Very comfortable, clean, peaceful apartment with all the amenities we needed. Great place to come home to after visiting family and enjoying all that Nelson has to offer. Vanessa was helpful when we had to follow up after leaving something behind.
A perfect place to return to in the evenings after big days out in Nelson the bed was comfy, good shower pressure.
Recommend a vehicle if you are traveling to and from Nelson.
Overall it was very good, just a few wee things. No expel air in the kitchen. The lounge suite was quite uncomfortable. Also due to the fact that it only had two windows it got very hot so sleeping was hard. A small heatpump/ air conditioner would be awesome
Perfectly placed property in a quiet suburb of Atawhai. We stayed a few days so my daughter could attend a course at the Centre for Fine Woodworking. I managed a couple of walks around the area, both the Saturday and Sunday markets and the Pics peanut butter factory tour.
My only feedback to the hosts would be could you please get some sharper knives and update the small cooking pots/lids in the kitchen.
Would stay again :-)
We arrived at Mike and Vanessa's place in the rain. Mike was there to greet us. Everything in the apartment was as described and it was great to have a washing machine. The space was a comfortable size and the kitchen had everything we needed although we ate dinner out most nights. Everything was spotless. We did find the bed to be too soft for us and it would be nice to change it to king size if they were thinking of replacing it in the future. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the neighbourhood was very pleasant.
