"Awesome 3 night stay in early May in a nicely decorated and refurbished over water bungalow. Quiet and tranquil. Spectacular views from all the bungalows and around the property. Excellent service. A hands on general manager who personally greets each guest and who was always available for questions and comments. As an avid paddle boarder I enjoyed use of the boards provided for guests. The bungalows sit in waist deep water perfect for swimming, walking, or watching the Eagle Rays swim by."

"They are getting 5 stars in all categories because they deserve it. Regina and Alain are simply the best hosts we have ever had. Alain doesn't speak any English. He is a sweet man. He built the place and is proud of it. He met us at the quay with a note typed in English telling us who he is and offering to lead us (we got a rental car) to the property. Regina is bi-lingual in English and French. They invited us to sit on their porch and chat. She made us a cake and gave us a papaya. She recommended to us where to shop. She booked both of our excursions (with locals - this is important to us since we'd like the money we spend to remain in the local economy). She took care of all of our needs. Even their dogs were really sweet. Two things to be aware of if you book. The studio isn't insulated, so the a/c couldn't compete with the heat of the day. We were asked to turn it off while we were away during the day and it couldn't cool down the unit until well into the night. Also, it is right next to the road. You will hear the traffic as it drive by. We highly recommend!"

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

"Given the name, reputation and the price level, the Four Seasons Bora Bora was somewhat of a disappointment. Yes, it's a prestigious hotel with one of the best locations in the world, amenities and services to match, but the Four Seasons also comes with high level expectations which were certainly not met. While the food was top quality, the selection less so, especially at breakfast. The buffet offered exactly one type of juice-not sure if it was fresh or not, and one ice tea. One juice at the Four Seasons? Two other resorts we visited on this trip offered 8 and 6 juice kinds respectively. The fresh fruit and other item selection was also good quality, but limited choice. We have had better options at some all-inclusives in Mexico. The transfer to the main island when leaving was an unpleasant experience curated by incompetent staff. The boat was leaving while our luggage was still on shore. Luckily we noticed and they had to come back to retrieve it. The boat staff also had an unpleasant, begrudging attitude when we reached the main island. We had to request our luggage specifically, otherwise it probably would have been left on the boat. Some customer service training might be useful for these particularly disagreeable staff. Lastly, while the rooms were beautifully designed, decorated and spotlessly clean, 8 out of 10 pillows on the two beds had a funky, musty, cheesy smell. Luckily there were two that were actually useable. Perhaps they could change them more often?"

If you want to avoid the resort crowds and get a better sense of life on Bora Bora, we highly recommend a stay here."

Coco’s Place Bora Bora - CAR INCLUDED

"Coco's place is at the north end of Bora Bora. It was essential to have a car to get around the island and this was included in the rental. The place had all you need: great views, full kitchen to make meals, laundry underneath, and had a double kayak. Adrian was super in communicating special tips on where to go. In particular, a 1 minute drive gets you to a Manta Ray cleaning station where my son and I saw 3 large rays at sunrise on the last day. "
