Dating back to the 1850’s, this characterful cottage with tall sash windows and high ceilings was one of the original buildings in Rothbury. You are at the heart of Northumberland’s countryside, with vast forests, meadows and moorland surrounding the town. Stepping inside you have the spacious living room which is open plan with the dining area. There is a gas stove in the hearth, bathing the room in a warm glow on a chilly evening. The adjoining kitchen is modern and well-equipped for creating all of your favourite home cooked meals. There is also a walk-in shower room on this floor. A wide staircase leads you up from the entrance hallway to two well presented bedrooms. There is also a separate toilet up on this floor for added convenience.
The cottage is set in an elevated position in this charming, historic market town. Only a 5-minute walk from a choice of pubs, most serving food, as well as a couple of restaurants and tea rooms. Cyclists will love that the Sandstone Way Cycle Path runs outside, down from the Scottish Borders to the Peak District National Park. The location is ideal as you can leave your car behind and enjoy the local facilities and indeed, take a walk right from the door up the Simonside Hills.
Rothbury is only 12 miles from Alnwick, making a day trip to the historic town to see the castle, gardens and cobbled streets a short journey away. It is less than a mile to Cragside House and Gardens which sits on the edge of the village, a marvellous National Trust site with something for all ages. No trip to Northumberland would be complete without a day trip up to the Northumbrian Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where miles of sandy beaches and historic castles await. Or travel over to Hadrian’s Wall and explore the remains of the Roman Forts, the wall itself or visit The Sill. Of course Northumberland also has the fabulous highly acclaimed Dark Sky Park around Kielder, all within easy reach of Rothbury. This friendly and diverse county has been voted ’The best county to visit’ in the British Travel Awards, and you can be sure of a warm welcome around the county.
A great holiday spent in a lovely well equipped comfortable cottage.

Great cottage, great location, spotlessly clean, owners were really nice people and so helpful. Parking outside the front door 24/7. Nice welcome pack on arrival. Quiet and peaceful place to stay, shops, pubs, restaurants, butchers, bakers all within 2 min walk, ideal place to stay, we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great wee cottage in a fanstatic location.
Great wee cottage in a fanstatic location. We wanted a few relaxing days away with the kids and dog and that's exactly what we got. The cottage is directly at the top of the road with everything you need within a few minutes walk. Good walks and a golf course right on the door step. The wine, sweets for the kids and dog treats really appreciated. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
