Boy, did we have fun! I'm a five-year-old yellow Lab, and our parents took me and my older black Lab sister to George's yurt for five days. Every morning we got to run up and down the river and splash to our hearts' content. We got to see deer and a a big red fox and I flushed a pheasant (my favorite thing to do)!
Our parents must have really enjoyed it, as they were in a good mood the whole time. There is so much to do in the area, both for humans and dogs. We really enjoyed Paonia, a wonderful small town with a real sense of community that my dad said was like going back in time to the 1940s when rural America was the backbone of the nation. Lots of nice places to eat, although our parents didn't bring us any doggie bags. They selfishly ate it all for themselves.
We got to go across Grand Mesa and the really pretty Kebler Pass. Our parents stopped a lot to take pictures of all the bright gold aspen trees and my sister and I got to play a lot in the mountain lakes and sniff all kinds of interesting stuff.
We didn't enjoy all the wineries as much as our mom and dad did (they wouldn't give us any to taste), but that was OK because we got to watch all the wildlife and the really pretty sunsets over the river every night from the cool walkway from our yurt.
My sister and I think the yurt is the nicest place we have ever stayed. We are lobbying for a return trip. And for circular dog houses. We'll let you know how that goes.
