"We were only able to stay one night, but our night at the Vallombrosa vineyard was very peaceful. The hosts were very helpful and kind and were gracious to bring me some emergency supplies. Although the property lies in a beautiful setting, it’s important to note that it takes at least 30 minutes to get to Lugano and the lake by car. "The Hotel Lago Maggiore is everything you’d want for your time in Locarno and more. It is modern, beautiful, sparkling clean, well-maintained, expertly staffed, and ideally located. What truly distinguishes the hotel is first and foremost how you are treated, from the warm welcome and recognition of returning guests to the attention they pay to every detail, with extra kindnesses that include bottles of water in your room each day and a thank you gift when you leave. The view from each of the lakeside rooms is absolutely stunning and instantly brings a smile to your face when you open the drapes in the morning. It is wonderful sitting outside whether on the room’s terrace, the rooftop terrace, or on the ground-level bar/lounge/restaurant terrace. The icing on the cake is the restaurant. Breakfast is delicious, as is lunch, but dinner is truly exceptional — do try the tasting menu for an unforgettably perfect meal! We had a terrific time and hope to return soon!"
