I had a wonderful experience! They staff was so friendly and kind. I enjoyed many activities such as the morning service, yoga, and sutra class. The food was unique, delicious and filling. This is a great place to visit if you want to have a more authentic experience in Japan.

My family stayed here to visit Kuon-ji Temple. I was initially concerned that the *shojin ryori* (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) served for dinner might not suit the younger family members in terms of taste or portion size; however, the meal was nothing like the stereotypical image of such cuisine. Everything was delicious, the variety was impressive, and the portions were actually quite generous—perhaps even a bit too large. My wife and my sons' families felt the same way. The room was clean. As for the bath, the water struggled to stay hot when all four of us men were in it at once, but that just became another memorable part of the trip. We also enjoyed a fire works Hanabi with my family at after dinner . The breakfast we had after our early morning temple visit was also excellent. We would certainly stay here again when we visit the temple in the future.

This is our second time staying at Kakurinbo and we absolutely love it! The staff are always kind and helpful. The food is amazing. The room is comfortable and the surrounding are breathtaking. We hope to go back!

I just have to say that this place, though remote, is one of the best places I have stayed. It offers a beautiful scenery. The staff is very polite and attentive. The stay allowed us to experience Japanese culture at its finest.

Great peaceful authentically Japan stay in an old temple. I highly recommend. The staff are super courteous, great with English, and the meals were amazing! Vegetarian yet very filling, flavorful, and delicious.

The whole experience was beautiful and very unique. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is authentic and delicious, and exploring the mountains and small town around the area was a delight. Our room was wonderful and very comfortable and the Buddhist chanting and prayers around the grounds was enchanting!

This ryokan is beautiful and set in a gorgeous area of kakurinbo. It was a trek to get to on foot but it is on Mt. Minobu. A beautiful walk during the day and so much to see. The staff was so helpful with everything and the kaiseki meal is a must experience.

Very unique experience. I loved the country side and staff is very friendly and accommodating. On our last day, they packed onigiris and they were delicious. I still think about them to this day.

Great temple lodge

Great temple lodge. Due to shared bath and toilet, it is not as comfortable as hotel but it is an opportunity for enthusiastic traveler to get intimated with the old Japanese culture and the staff try their best to make you comfortable as much as possible. Nice and delicious Kaiseki (Japanese meal set). Staff are kind and very friendly.

Far away from Shibuya, we traveled over 3 hours via public transportation to get here. We arrived at night, and it was a nice adventure with family. My family really enjoyed the stay as it was immersive. There was a lot of detail to dinner and breakfast. We only stayed for 1 night for the morning prayer, which was an experience in itself. I enjoyed the long staircase which I didn’t get the chance to run up and be sore for the whole trip. There’s a lot to do here in terms of activity, and the staff is quite impressive being fluent in English. The price was a bit much for me, but with everything considered, it was worth it as it put a smile on my family face. I was in a land that I was not familiar with, but my experience was met with welcoming arms. My father bowed his head as he left out of respect.
