"Stayed at the Cavan Crystal Hotel for a couple of nights recently and had a mostly positive experience. The hotel itself is in a convenient location just outside Cavan town, with easy access to local amenities.  The pluses: The rooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained, which made a big difference after a long day. The beds were comfortable, and the overall standard felt like a solid 4-star property. What really stood out was the staff—they were genuinely helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to assist with anything we needed. From check-in to recommendations for dinner, the service was excellent and added a warm, personal touch.  The downsides: Unfortunately, our toilet had a persistent leak that wasn’t fixed despite reporting it, which was frustrating. More significantly, there was no air conditioning in the room. During our stay it got quite warm, and opening windows helped only a little. A working AC unit would have made a huge improvement, especially in the summer months.  Overall, I’d still recommend the Cavan Crystal Hotel for its cleanliness, helpful staff, and nice facilities like the pool and restaurant. With a couple of maintenance tweaks, it would be even better. Would stay again if those issues are addressed"

"The property is beautiful and has interesting history. It definitely has the feel of staying in a medieval castle. Dave and Sue were very friendly and helped us without question when we had a flat tire. "

"I stayed in a lovely room, perhaps a new wing ? Not sure room 136 if not new it's certainly re furbished !! It's a friendly hotel with good local.support it seems. It was a quick over night stay, breakfast was good cooked to order. The one thing that has changed so much seems to be the early closing of the public bars in hotels. After a long day or returning to the hotel after an evening out it would be nice to have a drink. There did nt seem to be an option at 10.45 on the night I stayed. I will happily stay there again."

"Property was bigger & even lovelier than expected. The hosts were incredibly amenable. Would give 5 stars for comms whilst on site, lack of comms prior to check in is why I rated it 4/5We wanted a quaint and cosy escape and that’s what we got, it was fabulous with a wonderful French feel. Blessed by fabulous weather we were able to sit outside The owners were really great, they were there but not at all in our faces, they gave us a lovely guided tour of their other facilities too and effortlessly assisted us with anything we asked for (extra towels/toilet rolls etc) We were even gifted a bottle of wine on our last night which was a really nice touch. Although we’d booked for 4 guests(maximum allowed on the booking site) they didn’t hesitate to let us have an extra guest stayKitchen was a little mishmash, quaint & serviceable & lots of stuff provided but would be better if things matched a little better. A few more forks & an additional frying pan would be very helpful. The lounge was far far larger than anticipated, with a lovely well stocked fire which had been lit for us, two huge super comfy sofas & lovely day bed it was terrific Cleanliness in the upstairs area was a bit of a shock initially & let it down just a bit, very stained carpets, stained bed sheet in one room but it didn’t affect our stay or our comfort.We slept brilliantly, had a truly wonderful stay there & would not hesitate to book again Thank you Sue & Dave. We had a truly wonderful time"

"We loved our visit to Lough Bawn and the beautiful grounds surrounding. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with owner Verity and the breakfast was delicious. We recommend this to anyone considering a peaceful visit in the area. We wish we could have stayed longer. "

"We loved our stay at the cottage. Super cute and warm. It was wonderful it had a washing machine for us to replenish our clothes. Only thing as being out of country, our taxi driver had to tell us how to lock the doors. I would definitely stay there again if I ever make it back. Mullingar is an amazing little town"

"Yes the breakfast looked nice and friends enjoyed it but I enjoyed the cappuccino instead of eating and that was perfect "
