Ocean Views Mendocino Beach House Path directly to the Beach!

  • This 1880's home is large and comfortable. Although home is rustic and a bit funky, (Over 145 years old!) beds are all new and very comfortable, and it the ONLY home in Mendocino with an extra large yard and a path directly to the beach!

    Great for a couples or a family. Everything is within walking distance, including coffee, restaurants, ice cream, two beaches, whale watching, live theater, art studio, shops and site seeing.

    For that true needed relaxation the Mendocino beach house is the place. Just watch the waves from your deck as you drink some local wine, have a picnic lunch, or take a walk down the special beach path and explore the caves and look for shells and sea glass. Great for 2 weeks or more!

    Also great place to get some work done. Wireless internet throughout. Printer, paper, desk, larger screen and hookups all available.

    By the way Cinderella really did live here!

Beautiful views, lovely bedrooms, comfortable home. Loved the big yard and beach access. The outdoor Christmas lights were a nice touch. Walking distance to market, restaurants, coffee shop, bookstore, town and coastal trails. We’ll be back!

We had a wonderful time in this charming house with a huge yard full of art and toys and a view and path to the beach. Our grandchildren's favorite spot is a large bush with a secret room inside with table and chairs and pots for making magic potion.

My sisters and I stayed here for 4 nights celebrating 2 birthdays. The house was perfect- so comfortable and the setting is glorious- the beach is a short walk from the property and is so beautiful. We also enjoyed walking along the bluff and exploring the town. We will be back for sure!!!

Perfect location and great vibes

We enjoyed a multi-day working vacation in this delightful, well-situated home. The historic home is well cared for and clean. Its location above a beach (within walking distance) and in Mendocino village can't be beat. We loved the beach, the headlands, and exploring the village plus other nearby attractions. Don't miss Santosha Yoga/Massage, either! Highly recommended.

This place stands out as a truly exceptional find, both the house and the large back yard have a lot of character and charm. Wonderful Comfy Beach Housebeds

Beds were super comfy. Kitchen is fabulous!! Lovely fireplace and cozy couch.Went kayaking on the river and toe dipping in the ocean. Had very good meals in town at Fog Eater and Trilium. Pizzas from the Beaujolais also excellent. Fun time! Lots to do. We'll be back!

Quaint Cinderella Cottage

Loved this property, it is not the fanciest or biggest house but it is very quaint and comfortable. Kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen with every appliance you could ever need. Love the path to the beach and would definitely stay here again. If I had one complaint it would be the upstairs bedroom to the right would benefit from a memory foam topper as bed is very very firm but all in all a great house.

The house was comfortable and has lots of character. Such a great place for lounging and exploring. The yard offered intrigue and exploring. The private trail down to the beach was convenient. Communication with the host was the best I have experienced in this rental venue. Located right on the edge of town made access to shops, restaurants, coffee/cafe, galleries etc. easy.

Weird and Wonderful

My only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. The house was quaint and so cute. My granddaughter and I loved the path to the ocean and all of the creative yard art. Location was perfect. We walked all over Mendocino and listened to the music festival in the evenings. Thank you for the wine! It was a memorable trip!

Old time Mendocino

I felt at home the minute I walked in. This is one of the early Mendocino houses and you feel it. It has character and plenty of comfortable places to sit and read or gather - inside and outside. I love the path to the beach which I walked early in the morning and at sunset. I hope I can come back one day for a longer period.

We enjoyed a very relaxing vacation at this charming house by the beach. The house was comfortable, with all the amenities one could ask for to ensure a pleasant stay. The backyard is beautiful and offers a serene spot to enjoy morning coffee. The beach is only a 10 minute walk, with a trail with stairs at the top. The bottom of the trail could use some trimming of the bushes, as they were very overgrown. The house is close to shops and restaurants. Overall, it is a perfect blend of comfort and convenience.

Property is magical. Old house vibe with modern core. Great back yard, with beach views and easy beach access. Location is ab fab - steps from downtown and easy drive to all locations nearby. Kitchen well planned and equipped. Bedrooms large with updated beds. Baths clean and well stocked. Easy parking and access. Very welcoming living and entertaining (dining) area. Technology A+. Lovely Mendo Home

Four of us (two couples) stayed at the Cinderella House for three nights in mid July. There are many things to love about this home: —The location is fabulous: in Mendocino Village proper and within an easy walk to the many fine restaurants and shops, as well as the trail along the ocean bluffs. —The house itself is very clean, well equipped and quite comfortable. The beds are really nice and there is plenty of comfy seating in the living area. Please note: this is an older home that has been very nicely refurbished, but does not offer luxurious bathrooms or a gourmet kitchen. Everything you need for a great stay has been provided, however. —The property itself must be seen to be believed. The view is marvelous and there is a trail to the beautiful beach below. There are many enchanting and whimsical surprises throughout the garden which will delight guests of any age. We look forward to another, longer stay as soon as we can find our way back to Mendocino. We highly recommend this home.

Revisit to Childhood Home

First, communication with Gary was great and I am are so happy we were able to stay in the “Cinderella House”. I lived in this house in the late 1950’s and have been wanting to stay here ever since it became available as a rental. I’m thrilled that Gary researched and provided historical information that I didn’t previously know about the house and previous owners. I appreciate that he has kept as much as he could of the original house. It does make it a little quirky, but that is really what makes the house charming and relevant to the charm of Mendocino, as it was just a sleepy fishing town in the 50’s.The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and the backyard was amazing! The crab apple tree that I remember is still there and now creates an umbrella for a special area that I would’ve loved to have had as a child (I won’t spoil the surprise by going into detail). And then there’s the treehouse … and all the amazing artwork to enjoy throughout the yard.The items in the yard that have been collected over the years contained a wonderful surprise for our family (see Texaco truck photo of my brother). Who knows what else we may have left behind that now has a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Last, by not least, the view of Big River and the ability to walk down to the beach. Stunning and peaceful. I hope to bring my siblings back next time we rent this house. Thank you, Gary, for sharing your house so I could take a wonderful walk down memory lane.

Everything worked as expected. The house was clean, the bed was perfect. The little amenities like coffee in the freezer, coffee pods, and tea bags were a very welcome surprise. The house is really conveniently located and we could walk at night to all restaurants easily. The backyard was super amusing with all the decorations and installations - tree fort included. Beach walk was very convenient and led directly to the river/ocean interface.We are looking forward to staying there again in the future.
