The cottage is in a relatively quiet street only 4 minutes' easy walk from the main street in Healesville. It is ideal for a couple but, with 3 double beds, a single bed and 2 trundle beds, could accommodate a larger group. The kitchen is better appointed than any other holiday accommodation we've stayed in and could host a Master Chef episode with all of its facilities (including 9 cutting boards). There was plenty of breakfast cereal, tea, coffee and lots of condiments, olive oil etc for those who want to cook but, oddly, no milk in the fridge. Didn't matter as there is a small IGA close by (closes 6 pm) and a Coles supermarket within walking distance.
The cottage is centrally heated and air conditioned and has a very effective wood burner which we used on our second night.
Heaps of restaurants and cafes are in walking distance or a short drive away. We had excellent lunches at Oakridge winery on the way to Healesville and at Seville Estate on the way home. Dinner at the Healesville Hotel dining room was very good as was lunch at Innocent Bystander (15 minutes walk from the cottage through a lovely little park). Reservations recommended at all of these as they were all busy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Takeaway souvlaki from Spinners bar in the same street as the cottage was also very good.
We'll stay at the cottage next time we're in Healesville.
