This house is great for a big family - rooms plenty big enough and the kitchen-diner and the outside patio was particularly good. It’s possibly much better to stay in during the summer months rather than November when we visited.
Not good were: a) the interior furnishings and b) the response from the housekeeper when we needed help.
Interior furnishings were dated - probably all installed 20 years ago. The bedding was old and really poor - especially in the twin bedroom, and the towels had seen better days.
It was such a pity, as, with a little investment - eg new towels and white cotton bedding - this could have been so much better.
On arrival, the house was dark and extremely cold - very unwelcoming. The downstairs lights were working but upstairs, we couldn’t switch anything on. We finally found the boiler cupboard and electricity box and discovered that a switch had tripped, so we finally got light upstairs. The heating had also not switched on at all so we had to do that manually, despite being asked not to fiddle with the controls in the house instructions.
We rang the House keeper’s number and the lady’s husband answered and said she would get back to us as a matter of urgency. We then never heard from her all weekend! However, after an hour or so, we had light and heat, so didn’t need her. I feel that for future visits, the heating and lights should be checked ON THE DAY of arrival to avoid our awful first few hours. It really was very disappointing.
