We loved the charm of Alex and Claren's property, which was tastefully done, with the rustic trulli and set in pretty grounds.
Unfortunately, our stay was marred by several things. We are used to the heat of Southern Italy and had intentionally picked a home advertised with AC. Unfortunately, we did not read the small print and in the main house, there was only AC in one bedroom. The house was stifling in the 100F/36C heat and our kids really struggled to sleep in their rooms. Just know that the whole home is not air-conditioned.
In addition, the kitchen was cramped with dishes and pans stacked high on eachotehr and hard to access. It was also very hard to cook as their induction burner only gets hot on one burner at a time! When I questioned this, Alex told me it was always that way...very hard to cater for a larger family in this kitchen.
Also- the water in the taps in not drinkable, so you have to buy bottled water for drinking, tea, coffee, ice making etc.
Magnificent pool - this was definitely a high point.
Stunning countryside and we loved the Val d'atria.
Great property manager who could not have been more helpful.
