"We stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2023. We arrived and Ariane (owner) had been let down by her cleaners so there was a small delay before entering the property. However once we gain entry we were more than happy with the accommodation and facilities. We were a family of 7- 4,8,9 children, parents and grandparents. "An ideal property for a family holiday. Great location making it easy to visit the local attractions and markets etc. Plenty of space in the grounds with separate areas to spread out into. Young grandchildren spent a lot of time playing hide and seek in the garden and loved feeding the chickens! Pool area away from the house was great as was the jacuzzi in the evenings. Andy was always available for advice but never intrusive. We loved it !"

The accommodation was perfect for our party of six, with the lower ground floor bedrooms providing extra privacy and separate access. "We booked Chez Suzy for a family reunion, and it was perfect. 7 berooms, most ensuite. Facilities were great too with a lovely pool and gardens. Nice bbq area with a choice of either charcoal or gas. We dined outside as we barbecued most nights with the seating area more than adequate for our number. "This is by any definition a magnificent property and it it is so beautiful and so well managed that any criticisms feel like nit picking. The staff cannot do enough, the rooms a lovely and the property itself is unforgettable. The only complaint is that the rooms are exceedingly dark and they would do well to either provide higher wattage bulbs or install reading lights on the beds. "

"The property is a charming historic hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely as well, though it was a bit chilly to use it. We enjoyed sitting beside it. Our room was well appointed though cosy. People who enjoy a spacious room would want to specify that when booking. The restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner."

"Amazing. Fabulous property, great facilities including pool. Lots of parking. Excellent customer service from the get-go. On site restaurant was absolutely outstanding. Food amazing and service could not be faulted. Great breakfast too! If satnav takes you to narrow white gate, it’s difficult entry angle. Keep going round the hotel to wider gate and easier access round other side! Reception is at the back of hotel."

"A lovely family run hotel with attention to detail and great service. Great location, with a super pool (great for kids). Beautiful views across the hillsides. Breakfast was delicious and very fresh. Friday night BBQ and live music was a lovely experience. We visited a local Thai restaurant on Friday evening, as recommended by the hotel - they weren’t wrong. It was really tasty and the service excellent. All in all would highly recommend and would love to return to Hotel L’Abbaye!"

"What a delightful house, owned by a delightful lady. We have been renting in the Dordogne area for over 10 yrs and this property was probably the best we have ever found.Fabienne had curated the most detailed pre-visit pack we had ever come across. Her attention to detail was far beyond what we had encountered in previous holidays.We arrived during a heatwave which was difficult but tolerable (although that would have occurred wherever had stayed). Once it had calmed down it was glorious. Great pool, great views, great holiday. Thank you! "
