About this property
Beautiful two bedroom one bath house overlooking the Siuslaw river.
Beautiful house on the Siuslaw River is perfect for fishing, time with the family, or an adventure in the Pacific Northwest.
This cozy house has a cabin feel and can sleep six in beds - there are a queen and king bed on the main floor, and three twins up in the bonus room, in the finished attic (kids' space).
This little gem has one bathroom to share, but tons of living space for everyone to have a nook to themselves - two living areas with kitchen in between, wrap-around deck, plus a basement with washer/dryer, and a card table and chairs for late night card players. The back of the house has views of the river and surrounding coast range.
There are three houses on this river front property that can be rented individually, or together for a larger group. Each house is free-standing and independent of one another - only yard and river front are shared. The driveway is big enough for an RV, or ATV trailer. The property is a long narrow 1.25 acres, with all houses up close to the river. Neighbors are similarly situated.
Mapleton is a small town nestled in the coast range, on the edge of the Siuslaw National Forest, and has a cafe, bar, store and coffee shop. Florence is only 15 miles away, where you will find groceries, restaurants, a casino, and beach adventures.
Whether you're bringing your kayaks to test the local streams, a devoted fisherman, or just want to sleep late and enjoy some books, this river house is exactly what you'd hope it would be.
There is no cell service at the house, but we do have Starlink wifi and a landline phone. This is where you go to disconnect, catch up on reading and make family memories.

A wonderful property for so many reasons! Great location for day trips either inland or coastal. Stocked kitchen including many spices. This is a very comfortable home. From the beds and sofas, to the back deck with table and chairs for dining or card games.
Our host, Kate, is wonderful and readily available if needed. We highly recommend a stay at this home.
This was a lovely, safe little place to stay on the river. Quiet and close drive to public dock, hikes, and Florence with a beautiful view of the river from the back porch. A few things to note….dryer door would not stay shut so I had to lean against the door for an entire cycle (I’m traveling in a van and specifically book places occasionally so I can shower and wash my clothes so this wasn’t super ideal - I messaged the owner.) Also there are very close neighbors and no access to the river that the neighbors allow (based on what’s in the house manual). There really wasn’t a place to sit outside or indoors with the shades open that was private which may or may not be a big deal for other folks.
This property is in a very pretty location.~ We did not stay for the intended number of days.~ The house is roomy for a family or group of friends.~ It has great amenities and is very clean. The owner has provided a drinking water dispenser because the well water in the house has a very strong mineral smell. I have lived on rural properties with wells and the water did not have such a strong sulphur smell. I was uncomfortable with the water situation.~ The neighbors house is very close . I did not feel like there was privacy while outside. There is another rental on the property, again incredibly close to the house.~ In the long run, when we arrived at the property, we knew right away it was not going to work for us. The owner was very nice and worked with me per her cancellation policy.~ Also, keep in mind that there is NO cell service for phones and no wifi. ~ The owner's site says that you can use wifi calling. I did not find that to work for me.~ Hence, if you need wifi or cell service, you need to drive a few miles for the cell service. ~ We didn't need to have wifi, but because of the small children coming later in the week, the grandparent felt uncomfortable if there was an emergency and we had no way to call for help.~
We loved the Riverview home. It was very clean, well supplied and stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The owner had mentioned a sulphur smell but we did not notice it. We appreciated the water provided. Thank you Kate for a wonderful place to stay.
This property was more than advertised. Spotlessly clean and welcoming. The kitchen is very well stocked with cookware, utensils, dishes, and glassware! Beautiful view of the river with lovely evening breezes. Great location for a trip to Florence and the coast! Great communication with the host when needed. Thanks, Kate, We will definitely be back!
We made wonderful memories in this house by the river. We loved unplugging and enjoying nature. The kids practiced fishing in the river and loved seeing crayfish, the sand dunes were a huge hit, Sweet Creek Falls could have been a day's adventure in itself. We've love to come back!
We were so fortunate to find this gem while the area was so busy with the world track meet. House was small but tidy and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the River right out the back door and the fun loft!
We really enjoyed our stay in Mapleton. Kate’s house is gorgeous and perfect for a family getaway! I especially loved the view of the river from the big back porch and the cool breeze. The kids enjoyed playing games at the large family table. The kitchen was amazing too! We found every thing we needed for cooking and serving delicious home cooked meals. We didn’t have to eat out at all! The drive to Florence is lovely as well. We took a couple trips yo the beach each day, driving about 30 minutes each way. The kids loved sleeping in the cute upstairs room. Their own little hideaway😊. Thank you Kate! Our family will remember this trip for a long time to come❤️
Sweet & comfortable house with a beautiful view of the river. The sun came out finally, and we were able to sit on the deck and enjoy the view. Would highly recommend and would gladly stay here again!
We loved the peace of the river. What a special, quiet spot. Nature is really grounding and we enjoyed being down on the rocks watching ducks and other birds flying through, doodle bugs, fish and other aquatic creatures doing their thing in the low water this year in early September. My husband did plein air oil paintings most mornings. We picked blackberries.
The home is nicely designed and furnished with artistry and nice amenties such as moveable outdoor chairs and comfy throw blankets. We especially relaxed in the sunroom over looking the river. This is a nice location; off the busy, sometimes foggy coast.
Florence seems to be a thriving town with a lot of salmon and trout fishing (the fish move up-river when the water cools in early fall), nice restaurants - the seafood shack next to the Visitor's Center has great chowder. Loved the Fresh Harvest Cafe. There's an elk preserve south of town, the 40 mile-long Oregon National Dunes Rec. Area and lots of hiking along the coast such as Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetua, and the Hobbit Trail to the north, Bandon Beach down south. We hiked the local beautiful, shady Sweet Creek trail twice enjoying the waterfalls.
Looking forward to returning!
A peaceful and relaxing location on the Siuslaw River
My family and I were amazed at how clean and well-stocked this home was! The location on the river was important to us and it was everything as advertised. You can get into the river or just enjoy it from the deck. We had a great time meeting other renters next door and crayfish fishing off the rocks. It's only 15 minutes from Florence and the Pacific Ocean. Being over the Coastal range, it was a cool respite from the 90 degree plus weather of the valley in July. I will return again!
no cell service although a land line was put in after we arrived and wifi. The sleeping arrangements weren't very comfortable and there was no dishwasher. On septic and well so had to be careful. needed to strip beds and start a load of linens before leaving. Kate was very accomadating but she lives in Eugene which is an hour away. The river was very nice and we saw an eagle fly over. Our granddaughter has a good time, we played games. We probably won't go back.
This was our 2nd time staying at this beautiful property. We love this place and find it very relaxing with beautiful views of the forest and the river. House has everything you need for a perfect getaway. Highly recommend this property if you need a break and connect with nature.
The house was perfect and the weather was awesome for the weekend. Our second time staying at this property and hopefully we will make it a recurring stay. Overall it was a blast and made good memories
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, this river house has it all: the gentle sounds of the river, Osprey and Eagles feed right out front. The beds are high end and super comfy as are the couches. The kitchen is done in Knotty-pine and views the river through double doors. Well appointed! Everything is there to prepare any meal. We will definitely put this house on our annual vacation list!
It was very relaxing and nice to be out of the city and we didn’t mind not having internet. We had enough of f we really needed to make a short call but our purpose was to relax and hangout with each other. It was comfortable, clean, and we enjoyed the board games! The kids were sad we had to leave.
We had such a great time at this place! Between Christmas and New Year's our family likes to get away for a few days of reading, board games, snack and no screens. This place was perfect. It was right on the river so I could just get up and fish. Plenty of comfortable places to sprawl out and read. A great wood burning stove. We loved it.
Kate's house is well appointed, clean and peaceful. We enjoyed the river, the crayfish and the water holes. We had friends in Eugene who could easily visit and the coast is so close, it's easy to spend the day there. We like Chinese food and recommend Ichiban in Florence. We also had a great time at River Roasters in the Old Town.
