The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The first room was by a rather busy road but they kindly moved us to a better, quieter room. Our room had a hot tub which was clean and lovely and warm. The breakfasts were good with a nice variety of hot and cold choices. We would certainly recommend this hotel and go back again. .

Property was in a great location, 5 minute walk to the beach and on a bus line which made it easy to get into Heraklion as well as too and from the airport as well as other tourist destinations such as the palace of Knossos.

This was a relaxing property for a one night stay prior to our flight home. Staff were accommodating and grounds were smaller but nice. The property is located where several busy roads are nearby so there was some traffic noise but it did not impact our short stay.

Decent hotel but disappointing. Cleanliness was average, and our jacuzzi broke on the first day with no compensation from the staff. Additionally, the hotel is a bit far from the city center, making getting around inconvenient. For a pleasant stay, it’s better to consider other options.

The staff were amazing. Always friendly and helpful. I could not praise them highly enough. The restaurant is top rate and definitely worth coming back for. The pools area was very nice but a little more sun protection would have been nice. The only area lacking was the maintenance. My toilet hardly flushed and the hand basin was cracked and leaked.

The property is more like a small village complex than a hotel, with pathways linking the apartments to the main areas, bar, pool etc. It is so tranquil, a really lovely place to stay. The beach is a few minutes away, but we mostly stayed around the hotel. The staff are all very friendly and multilingual. The food was excellent and I’d recommend the buffet breakfast, it really set me up for the day.

We had a fantastic stay at Malena Hotel and Suites! The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were clean and well-equipped, and the overall ambiance was perfect for a great vacation. A special mention goes to Despina, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and her warm hospitality made a huge difference. The rest of the staff was also very friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with anything we needed. We absolutely recommend Malena Hotel and Suites to anyone looking for a great place to stay. We would love to return in the future!

Lovely pool garden with some Balinese style sun beds and many regular sun loungers. There were problems with the key card, as it had to be reprogrammed every day. Stylish room. Despite the sounds of the street, we slept really well. A really good breakfast selection. There weren't many nice restaurants open in the area between October and November.

Liked: Lovely, attentive, friendly staff. Room and the rest of the hotel clean. Great selection of breakfast food and snacks, coffee, etc. Restaurant, bar, poolside, gardens, very inviting. Nearby shops, amenities, etc. Didn't like: Lack of dining table in room if we wanted to eat in. Gym room and equipment in disrepair and dirty. First time in Crete. We really liked it, and the staff at Malena contributed to our enjoyment. Would go back to this hotel but, in all honesty, there's so much more to explore on the island and, to see the things we like, we'd base ourselves to the east or south of the island.

Nicely landscaped facility, near the beach. If you're not interested in walking a few hundred meters, there's a huge parking area at the beach. The property is a beautiful oasis in a mixed-use region. That's a plus. There's an enormous hypermarket three minutes distant, and plenty of restaurants readily accessible by car. Breakfast was excellent. Our unit had a hot-tub which we didn't use. There's adequate parking on-site. If that's filled, there's plenty more space next door. We stayed our last night in Crete. It's only about 15 easy minutes from Heraklion airport. Being "adults only" the pool and open areas are quiet and pleasant. Let the kids do their thing elsewhere.

Comfortable Stay in a Nice Hotel

Our room was nice and big, very comfortable and overlooked the pool area. We booked the one with a hot tub which was great. The room had two balconies so managed to enjoy the sun at different times. The hotel staff were nice and helpful and were more than happy to assist with booking some excursions. The bar service was excellent and had a lot of drinks and cocktails on offer. The breakfast on offer was great with a decent variety of foods. The pool area is a nice relaxing place. If you love cats like me then you’ll be happy to know there are about 5 or 6 gorgeous, friendly cats who live there and are well looked after. There is a “gym” in (well kinda outside) the hotel but there’s not much in it and looks quite tired. The sauna wasn’t working during my time there. My negatives were that the drainage system in the bathroom was inadequate. The shower in the bathroom ends up overflowing onto the rest of the floor due if on full. The food in the restaurant a few times was nice but cold and we had to send it back. We ended up finding other places in the area to eat as a result.

The property was really well set out with balconys that were nice and private to sit on an evening and morning. The hotel is very close to super markets and restaurants or the beach so ideally located. If you want a trip in to town its walkable in about 45-60 minutes. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you, really friendly and approachable and speak perfect English if needed. The breakfast was really good and there was a good selection. The room is cleaned daily. Negatives.... The road outside is really busy all day BUT the windows do block all but the odd car out. Im sure it was just an over sight but there was rubbish under the bed and round the hot tub from a previous guest. The hot tub was almost clean when we arrived but didnt get cleaned the whole 10 days we were in the room. Even with showering before getting in didnt stop a build up of dirt. And towards the end of our stay i was wondering if the chemical levels weren't getting checked and adjusted as well. All in all a beautiful place, brilliant staff, perfectly located and good food.

Accessible public transportation

Breakfast in the morning was great. It is adults only so it is very quiet and the staff is very accommodating. It is right across the street from a bus station so getting into the city by public transportation is easy too.

The staff were brilliant they always help and patient about the room its clean we had issues with our hotel room door it did not open easily when you swipe the card and ironing board did not have legs on it so its just small ironing board that I hade to put on chair for me to iron my close.
