Experience mountain serenity at Moonlight Ridge, a cozy chalet perfect for families and friends seeking relaxation and adventure in the Shenandoah Valley.

- Wood stove, bright 2‑story great room, electric heating & AC

- Fully stocked kitchen & dining table

- Deck w/ propane grill & backyard seating

- Pet‑friendly & family‑friendly, kids’ books & toys

The Space:

Cold mountain air drifts through the trees as evening settles, and steam rises from the hot tub while the sky darkens over the Shenandoah Valley. Inside, the glow from the wood stove reflects off tall windows, casting a warm, inviting light across the two‑story great room. Mornings arrive quiet and bright, coffee in hand, with views that remind you how far you are from the rush of everyday life.

Sleeping Arrangements

The chalet sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms. Bedroom 1 features a king bed. Bedroom 2 holds a full bed, has no door but remains a private, quiet space. Bedroom 3 also includes a full bed. Two bathrooms serve the home, one equipped with a bathtub and bathroom essentials provided.

Living Space

A bright, two‑story great room anchors the interior, with large windows framing the surrounding landscape. The indoor wood stove adds extra coziness during cooler weather, while electric heating and air conditioning keep the temperature comfortable year‑round. A TV and sound system offer relaxed evenings in.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully stocked kitchen provides everything needed for simple breakfasts or family dinners, with ample prep space and a dining table nearby. Coffee is ready for sunrise rituals, and the layout supports both shared meals and quiet nights at the counter.

Outdoor Living

Step onto the deck to breathe fresh mountain air. The hot tub invites a soothing soak under the open sky, especially on crisp evenings. A fire pit creates a perfect spot for conversation and s’mores, while a propane grill and outdoor seating let you dine al fresco whenever the weather permits.

Family & Pet Friendly

Children’s books, toys, games, and a high chair make traveling with little ones easy. Dogs are welcome, and the home is fully pet‑friendly; cats are not allowed due to allergies. A washer and dryer handle longer stays, and a dedicated workspace supports remote work.

Location & Nearby Attractions

The chalet sits about 15 minutes from downtown Luray and the famous Luray Caverns, with local breweries, restaurants, and shops within easy reach. Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive are roughly a 30‑minute drive, offering hiking, scenic overlooks, and year‑round outdoor exploration. Wineries and charming small‑town stops add extra options for day trips.

Water Note

Tap water in the area has a yellow‑light brown hue from natural iron and manganese; it is safe to drink but may carry a slight sulfur smell. We recommend bringing bottled water for peace of mind.

Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub on a crisp night, gathering around the fire after a day on the trails, or enjoying quiet mornings surrounded by nature, Moonlight Ridge provides a comfortable, relaxed escape in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

  • The beautiful tiger at the Luray Rescue Zoo. This zoo holds animals that are unable to be cared for any more or should never have become House pets to begin with. The man that owns the place was born and raised in an animal loving family and his respect and love for the animals show through his interactions and knowledge. You can schedule a behind the scenes tour of the zoo if you call ahead. During this tour I was able to pet a porcupine, feeds goats, feed bananas to a lemur, and feed the tiger pictured. Great yard/ fire pit! Well stocked kitchen. Fast internet. Comfy beds.. Must absolutely bring bottled water...the metallic taste made it difficult to drink.

Beautiful home in a lovely, private setting. A very attentive and solicitous host, the experience could not have been better.

Family week away

We booked this location for our family holiday. The house is nice, however one of the bedrooms upstairs does not have a door and the internet did not work for the duration of our stay. The host was responsive, but unable to resolve the issue.

Overall the stay was pretty mid. The cabin was not as secluded as advertised. The cabin itself was very hot and the first night was unbearable even with the window unit ac exclusive to the living room. The host did provide fans for the rest of the stay. The shower head in the main bathroom is broken and the oven door cannot be opened as it hits a knob for an adjacent cabinet. There was not adequate towels provided for the stay, particularly as there is a hot tub. Overall it met our needs as we weren't spending much time in the cabin. The host was very responsive, but I did not like how they insist that you register through a second website in addition to VRBO.
