"This property was perfect for our long weekend getaway. It would be a great space for a small family as well. A short walk away from Lake Huron, the private, sandy beach was a wonderful place to relax. The rental company was also very responsive. The location is pretty ideal, being in a quiet area but within 20 minutes of two towns to get what we needed, including a good breakfast at Ma's and ice cream at State Street Dairy in Onaway. The nearby sculpture garden is an interesting place for a walk. We will put this place on our list to stay again, especially knowing there is another rental property next door for friends or family. It would also be the perfect place to cozy up in the winter if the road in were a little less steep for our vehicle."

"This house is a gem of a place. The kitchen and living room are central and inviting. My brother’s family and my family stayed and were able to hang out comfortably. The place is quiet and in the woods and a reasonable drive to Mackinac city, where we caught the ferry to the island."

"This cottage on Lake Avalon was very well suited for our family reunion. The kids and grandkids LOVED the water activity with an ample supply of fun (kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, the floating trampoline, canoe, etc) ...so much fun.The house worked out great with super fast and solid wi-fi, any kitchen utensil and dish you could ask for, 2 fridges, lots of towels, blankets, bed space, and bathrooms. Huge kitchen island for gathering :-)The outdoor space is king here, with the very large patio, and deck space, basketball area, ample parking, rear yard space, and a very nice large shallow area in the lake for the littles to safely splash around.Stephanie was VERY responsive before and during our stay.Also, the small town a few miles away has a wonderful grocery store with everything you could need.We all had a great time!"

"They thought of just about everything you could possibly need! The back yard was super cute! We were in town for a softball tournament so most of our time was at the fields, but this was a great landing spot for me and my kiddos, wish we had more time to relax and enjoy the many indoor and outdoor activities! "We had an amazing stay on Black Lake. The property, rooms, and beach were all extremely clean and well kept. House was stocked with everything needed for cooking for a group. The kids had fun swimming every day in the shallow, sandy bottom lake. Our hosts were kind, attentive, and quick to respond. This is a great option for larger groups wanting a beachfront rental!"

"We had a wonderful stay! The house was exactly as described, exceptionally clean, and very well stocked with everything we needed. The host was fantastic to work with—communication was prompt, friendly, and helpful from start to finish.The setting was absolutely incredible, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere, while still being just a short drive into town. One of our favorite parts of the trip was the nearby lighthouse, which was an easy walk along the beach and well worth visiting.We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway."

"We felt very lucky to have found this rental. It has everything we really want in a vacation spot: water, water "toys" and a comfortable place to rest.Tammy is a great host and was very helpful in getting us acclimated to the area. She provided all the local spots we may want to consider, which included a mill tour. Mind you, we took the mill tour and it was the highlight of our trip!Anyway, we are very appreciative of the Sunken Lake Cottage. We look forward to renting it again, if not another within the Hemlock Hills system."
