"Exquisite hotel beautifully situated on the Ashford Castle estate property. The original Lodge was significantly expanded in the back with an elegant courtyard surrounded on all three sides by large attractive and very comfortable rooms. The entire property is perfectly maintained with a mix of original flair and contemporary art with the original building looking out onto a gorgeous view of the Loch. The food selection at the restaurant was limited but delicious. At least the steak and the market fish were. Service was also top notch. We took the walking tour of the forest on the castle property which also was quite lovely. All this for a very reasonable price, which included breakfast. Highly recommend staying here. I wish we had known and had more time to stay."

"There is a pool and extensive workout facility - offsite. The toilet in our room did not flush properly - took a random number - between 2 and 4 - to get it to work. We made the hotel aware of the issue on checkout. Breakfast was reasonably priced for the selection and we availed ourselves of it all 3 days we stayed - without becoming tired of the variety. The location is quite near the bus and train station - selection criteria for us. The view of the lake was lovely and tranquil. The walk to the town for food and shopping and bar hopping was quite reasonable. They were redoing the grouting in the main lobby while we were there. Upgraded the tired appearance. If the maintenance staff could tour the property - ex: no knob to exit the last women's bathroom stall in the lobby should be noted and fixed. And the vanity lights did not match in our room (one white light, one yellow light) in addition to the poorly flushing toilet noted above... The hotel appears to be trying to upgrade and they are nearly there. A bit more attention to physical maintenance and a bit more quality control for housekeeping (no top sheet on the bed (asked and handed to us) - will get them a 4 star rating."

"If I could give more than 5 stars i would! The communication was fantastic I would get a response within a couple of hours. Then when we arrived at the house it was more than we could have asked for, the view was so gorgeous we couldn't even speak. John of course stopped by and made sure we were all settled in and there was anything else he could do to make our stay better. John evern got a fishing trip ready for us and even though we didn't catch anything it was amazing. We were sad to leave but we definitely will be back!"
