"We came up bc we were running in the Superior HT races. We have stayed here before and been happily surprised by the quality for the price. This time it felt like the quality has declined- mainly it needs a good refreshing as well as maintenance.
The carpet was worn down in the hallways, there was a hole in the chairs in our room. The sink in our room leaked and was difficult to turn on and off, one of the lightbulbs didn’t work in our room. The person at the front desk office mentioned that there was no housekeeping for the weekend.
Initially, we were given a room on the bottom floor. It was clean, but smelled musty, and we requested a different room which they gave us on the third floor. Much better! The sheets and linens were clean, it just looked rough.
We also thought it was interesting that the woman at the front desk said they did not know about the superior hiking trail race, even though it was mentioned on there things happening this weekend bulletin board.
We love the location of this hotel because we can walk to everything in Grand Marie, but I think I would look at other options. Next time we are up there."
"This was a perfect place for one person. It had everything I needed. The communication was great, the place was very clean. The only complaint is that I could hear the other guests below, or next to me. Not a huge deal, but enough to notice for sure."
Caribou Lake Lookout – Hot Tub • Lake Views • Cozy North Shore Escape
10/10 Excellent
"An absolute must stay!!! The new hot tub addition was fantastic for after all our hiking adventures!! Beautiful views of the lake and we loved having our morning coffee in the sunroom looking out to the lake! The host was so sweet and very accessible. "
"We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin is absolutely beautiful and so well thought out and well stocked with everything we needed. The amount of space and sitting areas is great. There was an awesome library of board games for us to spend time together playing, and plenty of spaces to curl up with a book for quiet time. The fireplace was great, and so was the sauna. The game room area was a huge hit too! We would definitely stay here again "
