Cabin close to town, private beach, parking & hot tub
10/10 Excellent
"We loved the cabin in the woods! It was peaceful and inviting and very convenient to get to town and hikes, etc. Matt would immediately respond to any questions. Would definitely stay here again."
"The property is located on a unique piece of land. The "backyard" area opens up to the lake and it is very peaceful to sit there and watch the sunset. So, A+ there.
In July of 2026 they are doing construction on the restaurant. I'm glad to see this place get some needed TLC in the form of capital investment. The downside is there is no breakfast or anything like that. There is a coffee shop within walking distance that has breakfast items. In the morning, there is a line out the door. Super popular place. I can't recall the name of it,but it shouldn't be hard to find.
The biggest downside here is that all the rooms are on the upper floors and there is zero AC. Also, no elevator or anything to help you schlepp your bags up the steep circa late 19th century staircase (not the typical 7x11 risexrun that became standardized since WWII). We were there in July and it was only mid 70s in the day and upper 50s in the night and our room was sweltering. If they ever add AC, I'd go back. If not, then not. At least not in July."
Cozy Chalet with First Lake access just minutes from town. Great Location
10/10 Excellent
"The property was as advertised and a nice home base for our extended weekend getaway. The location was great being next to Bald Mountain and Old Forge."
"We had a great stay at Mohawk Pines. The house has 3 levels and made our room arrangements very easy. The house has a whole home generator that was amazing for us. The surrounding area lost power for multiple hours and we were able to use the generator for the house. The 3rd floor has 2 bedrooms and window AC units, The basement level has 2 bedrooms as well with no AC, but it stayed very cool down there. The main floor has no AC and got a little hot. If you stay in the summer, I would bring extra fans for sure. The Kitchen had most of the essentials and we only had to use a few of the pans we brought. The backyard is private and has a nice size fire pit. There is a building across the street that sells wheelbarrow's of firewood if you need it. The owner Mike was very responsive and checked in during the week to ensure we didn't need anything. Overall it was a nice house and great location."
"Our family of 6 stayed at Copper Lodge, and it exceeded every expectation. The home is very new, impeccably clean, well decorated, and thoughtfully appointed with everything you could possibly need. Perched above the water, the setting is peaceful and stunning. One feature we were especially grateful for was the whole-house generator. When the entire region lost power on the 4th of July, the generator kicked on immediately, allowing us to continue enjoying our vacation without interruption. It was a tremendous bonus. The expansive deck quickly became one of our favorite spots—perfect for morning yoga, sipping coffee while overlooking the water, or simply soaking in the tranquility. After swimming in the pond, relaxing in the hot tub was the perfect way to end the day. What truly made our stay exceptional, though, was our host, Marie. Her communication was outstanding from start to finish, and she genuinely went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. She thought of every detail, from a welcoming bowl of lollipops when we arrived to ensuring I had a mixer to bake my daughter’s birthday cake. The outdoor fireplace was already stocked with paper and firewood, making it effortless to enjoy an evening fire. She even provided extra items that came in handy on our adventures and shared wonderful recommendations for local hikes, activities, and events.Just 5 minutes to Old Forge and about 17 minutes to Inlet—made it easy to explore. It was a magical week!"
The Guide’s River Cottage • Riverfront Retreat + Walk to Town
10/10 Excellent
"We were traveling with another family during our stay. All of our kiddos thought this place was way better than any other cottage we've rented. There was lots of space for the kids to explore! The proximity to town was something we had never experienced in Old Forge and we loved it!!! The river was fantastic! The host was very responsive to every message I sent and was a pleasure to talk to:) This is a great place to stay if you have pre-teens that like a little freedom to wonder."
