Plenty of room for 10 adults to spread out! Good location. The property is a little tired and in need of some TLC but had a well appointed kitchen

Christmas Getaway

We had a wonderful time at Friedhem being able to spend time with family during a challenging time with my husband's health issues. It was great to be close to downtown Lindstrom and walk through town during our stay. I was able to get to Mass on foot on Christmas Eve. It was a beautiful night and we felt safe. We keep talking about the wonderful memories that were made. We were plenty warm and had more than enough space in the home to spread out. Thank you for a memorable Christmas celebration at The House of Peace!!

Great spot for family gathering

We had grandparents to grandchildren stay at this house and it was a nice, big space to gather and enjoy meals and time together, while also having separate sleeping "wings" for each family! Loved the charm of the older home and walkability to the park nearby, and how close it was to the City. Only drawback was the backyard and steps down to the dock - not for the elderly set or handicapped, but the cantilevered deck overlooking the lake was nice. Thank you for a wonderful time and lifelong memories!

Quintessential MInnesota Lake House

Everything you would expect from a historic Minnesota lake house. Plenty of room for everyone to gather. Easy, sandy bottom lake access. The kids and grandkids all had a great time. We just wish we would have stayed longer. We were having such a good time at the house, we never took the time to explore the town!

Beautiful house and great location!

First off, the host was very accommodating and was prompt and detailed when answering my questions. Check in was very easy and there was a book of information to help with any questions around the house or about local things to do. The house is beautiful and was fun to stay in! Us girls (We stayed for a girls night) did some local things during the day and then had a nice homemade dinner out on the porch and did a bonfire later. Definitely would recommend this stay!

Perfect family gathering on the lake!

This charming yellow historic house has so many nice areas to hang out. We were a little surprised at the "rustic" feel to it and the original main level is showing its age. But once we got used to the decor and all adults staying with us got settled, we quickly made it our home. The property is perfect for family gatherings around the kitchen or on the porch or by the fire or on the deck overlooking the lake. I would suggest this house for any season booking as it has all year charm and room for 6 adults easily! Thanks to the hosts for providing our perfect VRBO getaway.

Charming historic house

The house met our expectations. It was conveniently located, tidy, and spacious. We had rain during our stay and were very thankful we had the spacious house during our stay. The house was stocked with pretty much everything we needed during our stay. Jim was very easy and nice to work with. We would recommend to friends or family if they are in the area again.

We love the spaciousness and charm of Fridhem!

We had our second annual “Rosettes” weekend at Fridhem and we recently booked our third! We have a large group of ladies and children, and there was comfort for all. We took kids down the block to the park and playground. We shopped the darling Lindstrom shops. We dined at Gustaf’s and had flights of wine at Winehaven. Everyone had a great time. Perfect for our needs!

The Yellow House

After planning to come to the yellow house in 2020, but being unable to, we were delighted to make it there this year! A lovely house on the lake with the perfect deck for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. Lovely bedrooms that gave everyone a relaxing place to escape to, and a well equipped kitchen to make cooking a joy! Thanks Jim!

Lovely stay

We just had the most wonderful weekend at this beautiful home. It was spacious, clean, and the accommodations were perfect for our family. The bedrooms were large and they were two gathering spaces inside the house that accommodated our large group. The outdoor space was amazing. A large deck overlooked the lake and there was a quiet spot for an evening fire. There was plenty of green space for my grandkids to toss around the football and a fenced yard for the two small dogs we brought with us. We loved it and we hope to stay here again.

Daughters wedding

What a wonderful stay! We were able to accommodate family & friends whom helped celebrate our daughters wedding. All the bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The kitchen had everything, as well as well marked so you could find things. We especially enjoyed the deck & our morning coffees as well as our evening social hour. Absolutely spectacular view of the lake! Jim, the owner was very quick with responses to any of my questions leading up to our stay. We would absolutely come back!

Historic experience!

Jim was very responsive with all our questions. If you are looking for everything to be perfect, this might not be a property for you. This is a historic home with lots of character. Everything works well, no issues. Worked perfect for our group of 11. Plenty of bedrooms to allow everyone their own space. Beds are dated, and are fine, but are not the newest on the market today. Outdoor space is fantastic with a deck overlooking the lake with plenty of seating and grills. Fire pit separate with plenty of seating. Would definately consider staying here again if we were in the area.

House worked perfectly for us!

We loved the character of the house and the roominess. We had a great time. The owner was responsive and ensured our stay was pleasant. The website is a bit misleading on the actual available beds. There are only 2 beds (1 king, 1 queen) on the main floor, the upstairs has 1 king, and 2 full size beds. There is not a sleep sofa/futon in the 2nd floor sitting area (or any place in the home). There is however, plenty of room for air mattress beds if needed. We would rent this house again! Thank you!

The Best for family gathering

Our small extended family gathered at Fridhem again this year. It is our favorite place. Very well-equipped (even some fishing rods!) & exceptionally well-stocked; a large enough dining room table for 12; 2 ovens; 3-1/2 baths -- all add up to the kind of environment where a group of people can be comfortable, gathering all together, or in smaller groups around the place. This May we took advantage of the rain to play Pictionary (one of several games there) around the living room fireplace; 'puzzled' on the 'porch' (windows all around overlooking the lake); and played cards on the dining room table. There's a park a block away which our 4-year old enjoys; an antique store within a few blocks, with great deals on old jewelry; a cute coffee shop--also walkable. And, don't miss Lindstrom bakery's Swedish donuts!

Great weekend in Lindstrom

We rented this house to be close to our daughters wedding venue, Bloom Lake Barn, 8 miles away. It was the perfect location. The house was great, very big, nice and quiet for those who wanted to sleep in. We had family come and the outdoor deck overlooking the lake was a great place to sit and visit. Bridesmaids gathered on Saturday morning to get their hair fixed, makeup done and there was lots of room. The photographer and videographer also came Saturday morning and took some pictures and video in the house. We had family come Sunday morning for breakfast, the kitchen works very well for preparing and serving food. We really enjoyed the kitchen, sitting having a cup of coffee, looking at the lake, this was our quiet time. If we get a chance, we would surely stay here again. Gina & Bill King

Needs a Good Bit of TLC

As others have mentioned, "Fridhem" needs a fair amount of deep cleaning, repairs and general upkeep. I grew up in a home built about 20 years before this one and I understand how difficult it can be to keep a 100+ year-old home in top condition, but that's the price of entry when buying old homes. I also understand that material costs have gone up considerably over the last several months and that tradespeople have become increasingly difficult to find and hire. With that said, these are the challenges of running a business and a Vrbo rental home is a business. All this to say that potential renters should know that the photos make the home look quite a bit nicer than it is and you are likely to find water damaged ceilings, moldy showers and months or years-old grime during your stay. Is the home uninhabitable? Certainly not. Is it up to the standards of other Vrbos in which I have stayed? Also, certainly not. On a positive note, the hosts are very gracious, responsive and accommodating.
