The description of the Nuffield Health facility as a spa is somewhat misleading - it’s a sports club with a pool used for (noisy) swimming lessons, there is nothing relaxing about it as there are just 3 “beds” to sit on around the pool, and members make an issue of anyone having left a towel on there for just a few minutes (rudely removing it and taking the bed for their own use).

The most peaceful break I've ever had. Staff were all a delight - super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Grounds are beautiful, surrounding greenery extremely calming and possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

Charming historic building but inside there was a modern hotel with clean and comfortable, well-maintained rooms. It also has ample parking. There is a pleasant bar area and restaurant. They served a good buffet breakfast with a range of food to suit all tastes (fruit, yoghurt, cereals, bread/toast, pastries, cold meats and cheeses and also a full cooked breakfast). The food was good and the bacon and sausages on the cooked breakfast were particularly high quality. The hotel has an arrangement for guests to use the neighbouring Nuffield health and fitness club for no charge. The club is well-equipped, clean and has friendly staff. We took the opportunity while we were there to use the swimming pool and the sauna/steam room, which we enjoyed. On the edge of Letchworth Garden City but convenient for exploring anywhere in north Hertfordshire/south Cambridgeshire.

We had the worst stay here. A fight in the hotel, broken glass, our room lock was broken, the food was dreadful, breakfast was so bad. I have written to the hotel about this shocking experience and they are ignoring all emails, so i have now gone ahead with a negative review.

A bit of a disappointment for what we paid and for what looked like a special location in a beautiful building . Our room was just about as far away from reception and the hotel amenities as you could get. We were cleaned around and our table laid up for the next sitting before we had finished our breakfast . My husband was then hoovered around while he waited in reception. I know we’re old but we’re people and not invisible! We gave the feedback to the receptionist who was polite and apologised but didn’t seem very sincere . So it was “ ok” but it wouldn’t be our first choice if we go back to Letchworth .
