A lovely week away at acorn cottage, owner was really friendly and nothing was too much hassle.
A lovely week away at acorn cottage, owner was really friendly and nothing was too much hassle. Milk, bread, orange juice, biscuits, butter and fresh eggs on arrival with a roaring fire when we arrived was really nice. You are up in the common so a good walk or drive to any shops, but that’s what we wanted to get away from it all. We walked to the local shop run by volunteers with local produce was lovely. Everything was clean, tidy and we would return. The only thing I would say to improve would be the shower pressure is pretty low but that’s me being extremely picky. Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely love to return.

Gorgeous little cottage in a delightful setting on the edge of Bircher Common, down a half mile roug
Gorgeous little cottage in a delightful setting on the edge of Bircher Common, down a half mile rough dirt track (2nd gear!), with pleasing views. Compact lounge-dining area downstairs, it is however well appointed, with everything a holiday maker could possibly want or need. Tastefully renovated and decorated it is very cosy, with comfy seating options upstairs and down. Pets are permitted downstairs; the garden is a good size and pretty secure. (Dogs must legally be leashed on the common due to free range animals and sensitive wildlife). Acorn Cottage was spotless on arrival, with a well-stocked welcome pack of refreshments on arrival. Driveway is a good size with space to turn round plus there is an outbuilding which contains extras like freezer, washing machine, books, DVDs etc. A peaceful and relaxing spot for one or two people. My 2 pampered guinea pigs were very happy there under the stairs, with their playpen under the feature C17th wattle wall.
