There was little about my stay at Whitlock that was pleasant or comfortable. Beginning with the inability to reach the front desk via phone prior to booking, my experience was frustrating at best. Upon arrival to my room I noticed an alarm beeping outside the guest room door. When I inquired at the front desk and mentioned that sleeping would be a challenge, I was told it would be fixed within the next 2 to 3 days. It took an additional 3 visits to the desk to have it finally addressed and fixed just prior to 10pm. The room was unbearably hot- heat blasted out of the mini-split even though it was set at 62. I was told that it was a common complaint from other guests and there was nothing that could be done about it. It was suggested that I open the window (in January). I spent the night alternating between turning off the unit until it got too cold and then turning it back on and opening the window. The room I stayed in was an ADA room, with access directly from the outside. The key I was given did not work, my inquiry about the issue was shrugged off. Basic HK details were lacking - among them was only a very thin "comforter" on the bed, the carpet had barely been vacuumed, and no hangers in the room. I understand that the Inn is now under new management, and while I'd like to place blame on the front desk team, it was abundantly clear that training and support is greatly lacking and that in the case of The Whitlock, profits far outweigh basic hospitality practices.

We had a lovely stay at The Whitlock. Staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a Deluxe King and were given room 15 on the second floor. The room was quiet and spacious. Lots of room to move around with a separate water closet/toilet room and a soaking tub and shower on the opposite side of the room. The tub was delightful to soak in. We had takeout in the common area downstairs and found the Grab and Go market to be quite useful. At night, the inn was peaceful. I only wish it hadn’t been so windy so we could have enjoyed the patio outside. I really enjoyed our stay at The Whitlock and would stay there again.

The staff were very nice, however, our room wasn't. The heater never came on and it wasn't until the morning we were leaving that it started to work. This is after several times of letting hotel staff know there was a problem. The hardware in the shower was terrible. Rusty and the bottles of shampoo and conditioner were awful. The inside of the shower had brown lines along the floor and looked old and rundown.The hotel rooms need to be upgraded and refurbished. The continental breakfast was poor with cold rolls. The hotel is very cute and there is much opportunity to step it up.

Overall, the place could use some sprucing up. I had read a review that mentioned a few things to improve on and ironically all these seemed to have been corrected. At least in our room. Maybe the Inn improved on these having seen that particular review. There was nowhere to hang any clothes or jackets. A couple of hooks on the wall with some hangers would have helped. We were there during the week so the place was quiet but that also meant that the fire pit, the restaurant/lounge, the bar… weren’t “on”. It was starting to get cold so we would have appreciated having the heat on at all times. We didn’t have access to the controls and the heat was being turned off at times. When I asked for shower gel, the lady at the front desk seemed perplexed as she wondered why I wasn’t simply using shampoo or hand soap. They did manage to find me some sample size products. Overall it was an ok stay but the quality does not match the rates. Lenox is cozy and central in the Berkshires. I hesitated between staying in Pittsfield, Great Barrington or Stockbridge. Lenox was the best choice.

The Whitlock is in a great location. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend staying here. Just steps away from town.

I specifically requested 'hotels only' and didnt expect a bed and breakfast, with no overnight staff planned at my location. That said, it was a lovely room with a nice fireplace. Bathroom left a bit to be desired, as did breakfast.

Got an email the day before arrival telling us to register at sister hotel up the road; their staff sent us to the Whitlock to register; staff there kinda apologized; room was very small; split AC-heat system only gave us AC, but we needed heat; front desk said to give it time, then showed up 15 mins later to say the system only was for AC; they gave us heat, but we could not control it; went from too cold to too hot; the staff left around 7 pm (this was Sept 10) so we burned all night; came back from dinner and door was locked even though they insisted it would be open; called their emergency numbers and got no one, and no one ever called back; enough said.

3 flights up old stairs carrying our own bags ( in our 70s) and down and up in the morning for coffee… No national TV stations …. Only “local” on Roku! Clean, newly painted and carpet

I was in town to attend an inspection on a house we made an offer on in nearby Becket. The Whitlock was perfect for me. It was conveniently located, in town, close to dining, and with easy parking. The inn was historic, charming, and had lots of character. It was exactly what I was looking for. There is now staff available on premises from 7 am to 10 pm. I was able to check in on site. The outer doors were locked at night. I would definitely come back.

The inn is furnished with cheap, ugly furniture in depressing colors. Weekday coffee is limited to Keurig with dairy substitute--so bad it's insulting. Our room cost over $500 a day; other inns of comparable price are beautiful inside and offer better amenities. I will not stay at the Whitlock again.
