"Beautiful 14th century villa in the Tuscan hills with very pretty pool and restaurant areas, and very helpful and friendly staff. The food was hearty and enjoyable, but not the highest standard, even compared to restaurants in the area. It's in a great location for exploring Florence, Chianti region and Siena. The room we used (superior garden view) was good, very interesting features due to the age of the property, with a stunning view. However, it was not very cosy for spending time in and the A/C struggled as well. Overall we were very happy with our choice and had a great stay!"

Relais Della Rovere

"We loved this hotel. We were in the area for a sporting event and it was the perfect location for us. The hotel was gorgeous, authentic and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was really good with an amazing selection of cakes, pastries, fruit, cold meats and hot items. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the whole place just had a nice feel to it. Lighting in a bathroom is really important to me and the room we had was perfect. I wish we could have stayed there longer but they were fully booked. Due to that we moved to their sister hotel the Palazzo San Lorenzo for our last 3 nights and unfortunately it just didn’t have the same feel to it. The pool area at the Relais Della Rovere is lovely and very relaxing. It’s great they have a pool bar also. The demographic is very mixed, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo is more of an older coach trip crowd. I would definitely stay at the Relais Della Rovere again and recommend it as a good base to explore the surrounding areas and to chill and relax in between."

"I can’t fault the hotel in general, but honestly, it felt a bit soulless. We stayed at the sister hotel Relais Della Rovere earlier in the week and loved it. It felt warm, authentic and welcoming. The bar was by reception and constantly had people in it and all areas of the hotel were charming, whereas the Palazzo San Lorenzo, while impressive looking, lacked character inside despite being an old palace and in an area of architectural beauty/interest. As you are up the top of the old town, although there are some nice restaurants, they all keep strange opening hours/ days and on a Monday there is nowhere in walking distance to get lunch and limited options for dinner on a Sunday. That would have been fine if the hotel had food options, but they only do breakfast (which is very nice ) and then dinner for two hours in the evening. We were expecting Caffe San Lorenzo to do food, but we never saw it open and apparently they don’t do food despite it stating they do on the website. Maybe it’s off season for them, but the website doesn’t give opening times or say what days the restaurant/ caffe Lorenzo are closed. You get two small bottles of water in the fridge in the room daily, but there is nowhere to get any other bottled drinks throughout the day or around the pool unless you drive down to the main town to a supermarket. Whilst a decent hotel, we wanted somewhere to relax and not have to venture far to eat and drink after a busy week previously, this didn’t tick that box for us"

"The property is clean and lovely. It is set in the middle of the Tuscan countryside which is beautiful beyond words. The room was quaint and comfortable and the bed was comfortable. There is nothing close to this place but vineyards and olive trees, so you will want a car. We saw a deer running along the side of the road. The nearest major city is Sienna, which is 15 minutes away and which you do not want to miss seeing. The hotel has a nice restaurant that opens for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but it is only open limited hours, not all day and not late night."

"Borgo San Luigi exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed here for 2 days before our wedding at Borgo Stomennano, 15 mins away. We had a large group of nearly 30 people staying at San Luigi during our wedding events, and the consensus could not be clearer: what a stunning property. Yasmin, Ivan, Filippo and the entire staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to every request. They helped us get a car rental delivered, ensured a smooth experience for our guests, helping us deliver their welcome bags and coordinating a clothes ironing service before the wedding. The restaurant on site was also terrific and the wait staff, especially Alessandro, were so welcoming and warm. They all knew we were here to celebrate our wedding and did everything possible to take great care of us. The grounds are stunning and that pool is amazing. Such a great place to relax for hours. If you are looking for a beautiful, elegant but with a rustic charm stay in Tuscany, look no further than this property. The staff will treat you like family and you will be dreaming of your next trip here."

"Giancarlo and Paolo were some of the best hosts I have ever had in a VRBO experience. They were so nice and available. They were there for any questions we had and were fun to hang out with to boot! If you stay here you MUST book one of Paolo’s dinner’s as it was so delicious and memorable. The kids had a blast in the pool and the grounds were immaculate! My older son said it was the cleanest pool he had ever been in. Would stay there again anytime. Thanks P and GC! Hope to meet you next time Gianni!"

The hamlet has a really nice little restaurant/bar that all the locals use-very friendly, with excellent food.Highly recommended."
