Cozy, detached vacation home with a garden: de Frije Fûgel, Lauwersoog
Our cozy, detached house is located in the (private) Robbenoort cottage park. It is a modern, 4-person home, equipped with all the amenities, on a spacious lot (600 m²). The spacious and sunny garden features a play area for children (trampoline), and there’s a large playground across from the house. The back of the house borders a greenbelt. From the house, you can walk straight into the wooded surroundings. The garden has several seating areas, including a covered lounge area. Here, you can enjoy the sunset well into the evening. The house has two bedrooms on the first floor. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, and oven. The kitchen opens onto the backyard. There is also a dining area and a sitting area with French doors leading to the patio on the side of the house. For cooler evenings, there is a wood-burning stove (inside). The house is also equipped with heating and cooling via an air conditioning system.
Lauwersmeer National Park Lauwersoog is a perfect vacation destination for lovers of water, nature, open spaces, and tranquility. Located in the municipality of Het Hogeland (Groningen), Lauwersoog National Park lies between the Wadden Sea and Lauwersmeer. Birdwatchers can spot species such as the peregrine falcon, the bar-tailed godwit, the spoonbill, and the white-tailed eagle. Hikers and cyclists can spend hours exploring the diverse natural landscape here. Vast open areas alternate with woodlands and panoramic views of the water. This water-rich area is one of the darkest places in the Netherlands. Staatsbosbeheer occasionally organizes night hikes under the motto “Experience the Night.” In addition, they organize a wide variety of activities throughout the year for people of all ages, focusing on mammals, birds, plants, flowers, fish, insects, and bats. There are several places where you can swim. You can also take a sightseeing boat tour or rent a boat yourself. The Lauwersmeer is also great for exploring by canoe, and there are plenty of opportunities for (kite)surfing. Sailboats, canoes, surfboards, and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) are available for rent at De Lauwer Sailing School. For children, there is the Lauwersnest Activity Center (Staatsbosbeheer) and a water playground. Lauwersnest has a challenging nature playground and also provides information about the park, including hiking and biking trails.
From Lauwersoog, you can take the ferry to Schiermonnikoog. The ferry is within walking distance of the house (2.2 km). Robbenoort is located between Groningen and Leeuwarden: by car, it’s a 40-minute drive to both Groningen and Leeuwarden. Buses run every hour to Leeuwarden and Groningen (1 hr 14 min to Groningen and 1 hr 20 min to Leeuwarden). Dokkum is a 20-minute drive away (31 minutes by bus).
