Long drive to groceries or other toiletries unless you want to go to dollar general but that was assumed based on the location of the rental. Had a great time and all the included amenities for the river were nice.
We had a great stay. At one point he heat went out and we were out for the day and they had the issue fixed before we returned how. The home was very nice and the extra space was very relaxing. Our stay was extended with no problem. We would defiantly stay here again when in the area.
My family (husband and three boys) enjoyed every second we spent at this small piece of heaven. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing and playing games every day. It was extremely hot the whole week but the air conditioning kept us cool. The location was perfect, we honestly didn’t see another person for the majority of the week. We also visited Fossil Beach and found several shark teeth. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. I have referred several of our friends/family members to stay here!
Super cute and clean house. The decks/porches were wonderful to hang out on as well as the upstairs living room. Would definitely stay again if in the area in the future.
Comfortable, Clean, everything we needed was available.
It was nice to have sheets and towels provided. Family members in another Vrbo were not so fortunate.
Very peaceful and relaxing. Lots of outdoor activities including kayaks, swing set for our little one, cages for disc golf which our son is very active in, fishing off the dock. We grilled out almost every night and enjoyed our meals on the screened in porch. We also was very impressed with Belle Isle which was very close. Our family really enjoyed our time there.
Our family enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing week at this property. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful views. We enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor games and activities that are provided by the owner. We spent several days on the personal dock on the property enjoying the water and kayaking. Thank you for sharing your lovely “rivah” house with us, Chris.
House was Great for us because we where in a wedding and was perfect for the pics we took
I had informed the owner that there was a tree that had fallen down in the driveway no can to remove it
I had to use a saw all that I had in my truck to cut it up some So that the cars in my group could get thru
Other then that VERY NICE PLACE
The property and its owner (manager) were wonderful.
However it was a great surprise that VRBO gets an extra, unidentified finders fee of significant value. why can't VRBO be up front with there fees?
We had a great stay at Edgewater Retreat. Our family of 5 (adults) were in the area for a wedding. The house was just 10 minutes away, which made it so convenient for the festivities. Everything was just as described. The kitchen was well stocked. Our only issue was the coffee maker didn’t work, which I think was damaged due to recent storms (we let Chris know and he was going to replace it). Thankfully, the house is equipped with a generator because we were hit with a wicked storm while at the wedding. Power was out but not at Edgewater!

Wonderful Stay at EdgeWater Retreat
Our time at Edgewater retreat was just what our family needed. The private dock, kayak, paddleboat and some fishing poles made for some fun and relaxing times on the water. The yard provided a great area to play games outside. The house was comfortable and Chris has some helpful additional amenities to make the stay enjoyable. If you're looking to get away and relax, this is a great place to stay.
Great getaway house. Wonderful swing on the porch. Dogs loved the property. Would love to know how satisfied Chris is with the solar array. We are older and did not use all the sports equipment.
Would suggest a defining line on the last step of the stairs. The stair is perfectly aligned with the wood flooring making the last stair almost invisible.
Great house, great amenities. Great host. Thank you Chris.
Plenty to keep you busy and entertained, yet quiet enough to help you recharge.
What an excellent property! Perfect for any kind of non=touristy vacation you want to have. The river can keep active ppl on the go. Games inside and out can keep guests plenty occupied. And the rural setting can aide those seeking a quieter vacation to rest, relax, retreat, and recharge.
What a lovely home! Clean, well-appointed, beautiful setting, secluded, and activity-filled indoors and out! My husband and three teenagers and I had a blast, kayaked and swam every day, had amazing weather. We brought an umbrella so we could hang out on the dock all day, which we did! The covered porch has windows that open floor to ceiling and was wonderful to relax in on our cool mornings, feels a bit like you're in a treehouse. The kitchen has every gadget you would need, as well as all the essentials in the pantry and fridge you would have at home. I would absolutely stay here again!
We are a family of seven. Our children are teenagers. We all have super busy schedules. We were looking for somewhere peaceful & relaxing so we could spend quality time together as a family. Boy did we find it here. The owner was very responsive and informative. He started emailing me right away. Gave suggestions on local things to do, places to eat, and much more. The location itself was better than great. IT WAS AMAZING! Right on the Rappahannock River in a cove. We caught at least 20 to 30 channel catfish, 1 bass, and 1 eel right off the dock. Once we seen the eel I won't lie swimming was a no go for all of us. Lol. The owners really took pride in every detail to make this home away from home and enjoyable for everyone. Our family enjoyed playing frisbie golf, cornhole, and a few other yard games. The kayaks and paddle board was a nice bonus. The house was stocked with everything we needed from the kitchen, bedrooms to the bathrooms. This getaway is definitely one going in the memory book as most memorable and we most certainly will visit again.

The perfect outdoor lovers and blue crab eater's vacation!
First of all, our stay at the Edgewater Retreat was excellent. Chris (our host) communicated throughout the booking experience as well as sending us tips and recommendations during our stay, and answered really specific questions about what we could expect in the area, as we’ve never been anywhere near Chesapeake before. He was more than a host, he was our virtual tour guide.
The home was absolutely perfect for us. It was immaculately clean and well cared for (and that’s coming from a few germaphobes). Everything was new and in great condition. Bedding, towels, dishes, sofas, silverware… everything felt fresh and well cared for. The home is in good shape too and felt like it had recently been refurbished by someone with a good attention to detail.
There were tons of things to do: board games, an arcade machine, a foosball table, kayaks, frisbee golf, fishing. From my 80 year old father to my 7 year old son, all of us were entertained the entire time, and we spent most of our days on the property.
The highlights of the home were:
- The cool and comfortable entry screened porch where we hung out most evenings
- The great second story kitchen / living room which was everyone’s favorite room to hang out in because it was so bright and happy.
- The kayaks, frisbee golf, and swing set were all big hits and we used them every day.
- The dock where we caught catfish, netted bait fish, and even caught a couple small blue crabs in the traps.
- The beautiful walk through the woods to the dock.
- The fireflies lighting up the forest and fields at dusk.
- The black raspberry bushes at the entrance of the property had some of the sweetest berries and my son went every day to see what was ripe. (I think they should be completely ripe by mid-June in case you are visiting after us).
- There was a huge pot for boiling/steaming crabs along with all the crab eating tools you could ever need. This was such an amazing touch, because it was brand new when we arrived and I feel like Chris bought it and made it available knowing how much we were looking forward to crabs.
- The arcade machine downstairs and foosball table upstairs were daily sources of entertainment!
Thank you again to our host Chris for making this home available. We made memories to last a lifetime and my son and parents bonded the entire time. I don’t know that we could have found anything that suited us more than this home. We appreciate all that you did to make it a great experience!
